/\Iran is ally of Turkey??:hmmm: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran%E2%80%93Turkey_relations (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran%E2%80%93Turkey_relations) However, the reconciliation suffered a massive setback when Turkey launched a military offensive against Rojava (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_Turkish_offensive_into_north-eastern_Syria) and Syrian Government. Iran, which is in good term with Turkey since the coup, began to criticize and condemn Turkey for invading Syria and violation of Syrian territorial rights. Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammad_Javad_Zarif) has voiced opposition to the offensive viewing it as a violation of Syria's sovereignty. In addition, Iran's parliamentary speaker Ali Larijani (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ali_Larijani) cancelled his scheduled trip to Turkey.Iran and Turkey’s lack of trust for each other has hampered them from achieving their various economic and political goals.According to Ahval news, an analyst wrote that while the two countries are competing for influence in Central Asia, particularly Muslim republics, it is hindering them from becoming real allies. The relations go decline further after Syrian Army shelled Turkish Army in Idlib (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idlib), as Syria is backed by Iran and presence of Iranian Army in Northern Syria; and Turkey's perceived tacit approval to the United States to conduct airstrike that killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qasem_Soleimani) in Baghdad (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baghdad)

Unlike the impractical and heavy Castagna Alfa, the Rumpler was as dramatically different (and influential) for its completely integrated and original design and engineering. It had a mid-engined W6 engine, and four wheel independent suspension using swing axles which Rumpler patented. The Tropfenwagen was tested in VW’s wind tunnel (below) in 1979,https://www.classic-trader.com/de/magazin/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Rumpler-Tropfenwagen-Windkanal-1400x790.jpg and achieved a Coefficient of drag (Cd) of 0.28; a degree of slipperiness that VW’s Passat wouldn’t equal until 1988 https://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/images/page_headers/Car_Reviews/Rumpler.jpgUsed as Berlin taxis, two are known to exist. It was a surprise to say the least, to see such a machine being conceived and built in war-struck Germany instead of being a product of flourishing US economy. It was the brainchild of Viennese engineer Edmund Rumpler, who started his career with the Nesseldorfer Waggonfabrik (the Bohemian company predecing Tatra in the current Czech town of Koprivnice) and the Berliner company Allgemeinen Motorwagen Gesellschaft before moving to Frankfurt in 1902 to start work at Adler. A year later he was the patent-holder of the swing axle which would become such a vital ingredient of 20s and 30s automobile construction. Rumpler returned to Berlin in 1906 to start his own company, freelancing as an engineering consultant to the automotive and aviation industry. Four years later he acquired the rights to fellow Austrian Igo Etrich’s Taube (‘dove’) airplane and started building it in large numbers as the Rumpler-Taube, eventually employing some 3,000 workers in two factories at Berlin-Johannisthal (the later home of the East-German EMW/DAMW racing effort) and Augsburg.

http://www.forix.com/8w/prewar/rumpler-tropfenwagen.jpgWith Germany losing the war and being prohibited from manufacturing aircraft, Rumpler turned back to automobiles, founding the Rumpler Motoren Gesellschaft GmbH – but the aviational inspiration remained. His teardrop-shaped Tropfenwagen Typ 0A 104 was the star of the show at the Deutsche Automobil-Ausstellung, as its streamline, its winged fenders and its rearward arrow-banked W6 engine (commissioned from Siemens & Halske) took everybody’s breaths away. But nobody actually wanted to buy it! The aero shape was just too far ahead of its time while it didn’t help that the over-engineered 36hp water-cooled engine was unreliable and through its position behind the driving seats was taking away vital storage space.

Rumpler entered into a licensing deal with Benz in 1925 to place Benz’s 2.6-litre 50hp engine in the back, and converted back to traditional fenders too to create the Typ 4A 106 follow-up, even switching to front-wheel drive as a last resort, but it was too little (or perhaps too much) too late. The remaining Tropfenwagen, of which only a hundred were built, were sold off cheaply to Berlin taxi drivers while the rest of them were ritually burned to the ground at the end of Fritz Lang’s famous masterpiece Metropolis, having been sold at bare value to movie company UFA.

^ well this was interesting. My father once told me about this car, and i saw one in the "Deutsches Museum" at Munich. But i did not connect Aktung's photo with it at first - on the photo it somehow looks like a pointed end, not like a vertical 'fin'..
It was a bit futuristic for its time, so Fritz Lang even used (and wrecked) ten of those in his Metropolis film from 1927:

https://i.imgur.com/4bgKQYGl.jpg

OT Rumpler sure was ingenious and clever, but he will never be forgiven for stealing the "Taube" idea and concept from Igo Etrich including the yoke idea - the "Etrich Taube" was the original plane, first one to be fully aerobatic b.t.w.. Rumpler stole/violated Etrich's patent and built the same plane under his own name.

Right.. some companies also had other technical products in their portfolio, so they cold drop one, or shift priorities. Some were nationalised, some bought by other companies, some bought back .. all this happened to the company which built this car.

Yes, that's it!
Aero 30 roadster, first version. It had a whopping 30 hp twin stroke engine, which propelled it to 110 km/h in 1934. First Aero with front drive.
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aero_30
Photo at the upper right shows a later 30 with changed grille.

The "Aero" company also built and still builds planes (whence the name), but no cars anymore. 1947 the company was nationalised, somewhere in the 1990ies the US company Boeing bought it, but it was was bought back later. They now produce civilian and military aircraft.

Full photo - the engine is not original, but a similar small two-stroke one lent from a "Wartburg". Spare parts are hard to come by, also lots of aluminium used. So it is very light and real fun to drive..
