http://www.cardinalfang.net/episodes/season_two/images/how_not_to_be_seen.jpg
Well, you do like I showed you, upload it to imgur and don't directly link to the object in hand. For example, if you right-click on Aktungs picture you'll see that it says:
http://www.cr.nps.gov/museum/exhibits/revwar/image_gal/morrimg/web_exhibit/FergusonMusketl_MORR2375.jpg
Which even if it didn't have the name in the URL, it means you can easily just put the URL into google-image search, find the website that it's from and find the caption from that website. :salute:
However, if you download the picture, crop it, rename it something like 'whatisthis.jpg' and then upload it to imgur and post it on here, then when I go to right click on it, for example, right clicking on my picture gives me:
http://i.imgur.com/r74eHMR.jpg
And if I put that into a google image search, the only thing I'll get is the image I've posted, that and it'll look at the image and give me a load of car engine pictures too. :haha:

Chalais-Meudon Type T?
Catfish
12-23-14, 07:51 AM
Ok it is over to Neuerburg .
Aktungbby was also right with the "Capitaine Caussin", because this was the name given to the "T2", militarily number "T14" and sold to the US Navy in 1918, but Neuerburg was first.
On the photo is indeed the Chalais-Meudon "T1" not the "T2", but i think it is close enough. The "T1" was built in 1916 and stationed in Bizerta, most probably the first airship to have a fully streamlined Duraluminium gondola .
And my info was wrong, the "T1" was not sold to the US, but exploded in the air at may 12th, 1916, somewhere near Sardinia in the Mediterranean sea.
So from the info i gave, Neuerburg and Aktungbby are right.
The name of the commander Capitaine Caussin was honourably given to the "T2", after he had died in the explosion of the "T1".
The slightly modified "T2" was then sold in 1918, to the US Navy.
The Chalais-Meudon airships were so-called blimps, having a pumped-up bag instead of a rigid skeletons like the Zeppelins, or british R-type airships.
The bag was filled with hydrogen and one or two inner air-filled ballonnetts to keep the bag in shape during ascending and descending. The funnel to the ballonnetts can be seen, above the gondola. The ballonnetts were kept blown up by the engines constantly, and a failure of the engine and thus blower would let the bag collapse, the main problem with Blimps b.t.w..
They were used for ship escorts, and for submarine-hunting.
The "T1":
83 meters long, diameter 10,9 m, volume 5'600 cbm, driven by two Salmson - Canton-Unnée watercooled radial engines wiith 150 hp each, speed appx. 100 km/h
The "T2" "Capitaine Caussin":
83 meters long, diameter 13,8m, volume 9'118 cbm, driven by two Salmson - Canton-Unnée watercooled radial engines with 150 hp first, and 180 hp later, speed first 87 km/h, later 94 km/h

float, not a boat plane if you know the difference I mean? But I'll say Albatros for first guess. I take it that a boat plane has a boat shaped fuselage where as a float plane uses floats to keep the whole plane above water. I think the Felixstowe F.5 would be a definition of a boat plane (maybe). http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/71/Felixstowe_F5s_in_flight.jpg
And no it isn't an Albatross.
Buddahaid

The difference is described as a seaplane with a boat hull bottomed fuselage, or a float plane that replaces a wheeled undercarriage with floats.

Atomium in Brussels ? :hmmm:
Yep, in one. A most interesting building I once visited, the tubes connecting the spheres actually contain escalators within them.
The Atomium is a building in Brussels originally constructed for Expo 58, the 1958 Brussels World's Fair. Designed by the engineer André Waterkeyn and architects André and Jean Polak,[1] it stands 102 m (335 ft) tall. Its nine 18 m (59 ft) diameter stainless steel clad spheres are connected so that the whole forms the shape of a unit cell of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times.
Tubes connect the spheres along the 12 edges of the cube and all eight vertices to the centre. They enclose escalators and a lift to allow access to the five habitable spheres which contain exhibit halls and other public spaces. The top sphere provides a panoramic view of Brussels. CNN named it Europe's most bizarre building.
