View Full Version : In This Fight, The Big Dog Is A Cat...
This has made the news here in California and nationally; here is the YouTube video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-Opm9b2WDk
The cat has become a local hero and has been offered the chance to throw out the first pitch at a local Minor League baseball game (it has not been revealed how they will pull off the stunt)...

Agreed. :yep:
Just an update...
Tara, the hero cat, got her due and "threw" out the first pitch:

Even more surprising, in this age of instant lawsuits, the boy's parents are not going to sue over the injuries:

No. But they'll cringe at Hamm's parties where the toast is "Hair of the dog that Bit Ya!':Kaleun_Cheers: John Heywood, in his invaluable early text, A dialogue conteinyng the nomber in effect of all the prouerbes in the Englishe tongue, 1546, uses the phrase with a clear reference to drinking: I pray thee let me and my fellow have
A hair of the dog that bit us last night -
And bitten were we both to the brain aright.
We saw each other drunk in the good ale glass.:know::O:

Top marks to the parents...they're certainly showing how classy they are in an age where many would go for financial compensation :sunny:

This cat and its lesser servants have really shown some class :D
But honestly this is great. Also seems the kid is well.

It looks like kitty's victory is complete. The Labrador-Chow mix dog involved in this four-footed firefight has been put down.

Hoorah for the cat! As far as the lawsuit...dog owner should be cutting a check for medical expenses.

And that is were a any lawsuit should end. Most would be looking for the kids college tuition at this point.
Sorry to exhume a long ago thread, but a new honor has been bestowed on Tara, the hero cat:

Nice one but I was saddened to learn that the dog was put to sleep afterwards.
According to local Los Angeles radio news reports at the time, the dog was exhibiting serious violent and vicious behavior and the best recourse was a putdown since the dog could not be rehabilitated and was thus not fit for adoption. Sad, but there was no alternative...

I agree.
Despite my love of dogs some just have to be put down.
If my dog would attack a child unprovoked I'd shoot him myself.

I'd take it you are taking the necessary precautions to prevent your dog from attacking a child unprovoked by keeping it on a leash or behind door/fence when children are around yes? Or else I'll would have to ask you kindly to pass me the gun so I can in return shoot you for being a bad dog owner :smug:

He's on a leash at all times when not at home :O:
And sitting beside my leg when I meet someone. And he's used to children, the neighbours brats were all over him when he was a pup and he enjoyed the attention. Not traumatized by kids like his owner :O:

I haven't have a dog my self. we had dogs during my childhood and my youth. My friends and some of my relatives have dogs
I have noticed a huge different between how children and grown-up behave when they meet a strange dog.
Here are som examples.
I'm taking a dog for a walk- I meet a grown-up. The person ask if he/she can pat the dog. Before I have said yes or no. The person have started to clabbing the dog. And it happen every time.
And they do it all wrong.
The children. They wait for my reply and it happens every time.
And mostly they do it the right way.
