Afghan air strike: over 100 dead in the U.S.
Denver / USA (dpo) - In an Afghan air strike on the American small town Stantsville near Denver (Colorado) this morning, many civilians were killed. According to reports of the local authorities, more than 100 residents - including many women and children - were killed. The American public is shocked. The attack, however, seems to be a misunderstanding.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai apologized shortly after the air strike to his counterpart Barack Obama for the civilian casualties, but stressed that an intelligence report had pointed out, that Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld were in Stantsville. Cheney and Rumsfeld are former high-ranking representatives of the now ousted Bush regime, which carried out an attack on Afghanistan over a decade ago. After first information, the two Republicans were not located among the dead. U.S. President Barack Obama said, he would talk with Karzai about the matter and called for an investigation of the incident. Karzai himself didn't rule out further air strikes on United States territory.

I seriously doubt it. Plus a quick google search for Stantsville turned up nothing.

Google comes up with what I assume is the same article as yours in German (by the way, google Stantsville, Colorado and this thread is the first listing on Google). There are no other articles to be seen and Google maps doesn't even recognise Stanstsville, Colorado as a place.

Also, how would the Afghans carry out an airstrike on US soil? I doubt they've got the necessary equipment, and even if they did get close, they would be hosed out of the sky by US defences for being an unidentified and possibly hostile aircraft in US airspace.

So in answer to your question: Probably not, no.

I have some priority nominations for the bombing mission queue. Jerry Sandusky, Bernie Madoff, Don Sterling and Kim Kardashian. Please hurry. :D

Kim Kardashian would need 2 airstrikes, one to demolish her ego, and the other to vapourise her big butt!

Uh, satire.

And as much as I resent US drone strikes and Cheney/Rumsfield, let's face it, this isn't even particularly good satire. For one, because you'd be fooling yourself if you expected Karzai - who was handed power on a silver platter by Cheney/Rumsfield would be sending them anything but expensive gifts.

I was gonna substitute Alec Baldwin, but his arrogance alone would take five strikes. :dead:

Bombing the Baldwins would start a war with Canada. Not a good idea :03:

I think it is good satire..

Just imagine what a westerner would think, when another nation did what the US does, to him.

We know the story is incorrect. Obama is playing golf and cannot be disturbed over trivialities like a airstrike in Denver.

Not difficult to imagine if it happened here in a major American city. Such a strike would be followed by a brief outburst of patriotic euphoria as parking space would suddenly be available. Plus, the gun nuts would have an excuse to shoot at anything that moves in the sky.

This period of euphoria would be followed by a period of disappointment as the government decides to turn said parking space into an urban park with some banal name like Freedom park, Independence Park, etc. Lawyers clean up on the lawsuits.

Within three months disappointment morphs into faux outrage as some local imam has the effrontery to try and build a mosque within three blocks of the park that nobody wanted in the first place.

In six months a flurry of conspiracy theories emerge that state that the city was actually bombed by FEMA, the Illuminati, Da Jooz, the Reptile Overlords, Chemtrail Ken. In short by everbody but whom the government claims did it.

I see a recurring theme here. :hmmm:

Well, technically anyone who owns a printed rectangle is guilty of owning a map of Colorado. It's that dull-looking.

But if you pass it off as Wyoming you're off the hook. :D

That entire synopsis is already in the history books for 14 years this September.

You really had to ask, on a computer game website, whether this story was true? Really? Ya don't think that if this story were true that the story might has been covered on, oh, I don't know, every single news service in the entire world? :06:

Well - all the others I contacted (i.e. Granny/Neighbour/Reuters/Mrs. Merkel/my cat) didn't answer, realized it to be a satire, called me funny or simply understood the problem it covers. :O:

Only a true German could take "having humor" so seriously, while missing the meaning of the post he's "correcting".

Don't take that personally - I'm part German too. And I've had my strange take on humor pointed out many times.

Pah - these jokes are pretty old. They have been chosen top 2 for five or six years now, but last year they elected a new and even better one:

Hans and Fritz are marching through a tidily planted shady alley somewhere in Paris,
when Fritz halted suddenly and shouted at Hans: "DU HASST DIEN SCHUE VERLOREN!"
