Anyone who flew the X-15 has my utmost respect.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Famed research test pilot Bill Dana, who flew the X-15 rocket plane and other pioneering aircraft during the birth of the space age, has died at age 83.

Very brave men, just looking at the design of the X-15 gives me the shivers, that could not have been an easy bird to fly.

Very brave men, just looking at the design of the X-15 gives me the shivers, that could not have been an easy bird to fly.
IIRC they used the F104 for training as it had somewhat similar flight characteristics.
