Canvas Knights WW1 Game

Hi all :)

I am here to inform you about a new WW1 game called Canvas Knights its not a hard core simulation but it is enough so that one can get immersed in it and is out it will run as a demo and can be downloaded here;

In this game you not only get to fly you also get to drive ground vehicles like tanks and so on it is air, land, sea and under sea user vehicles with their proper physics for each kind of vehicle, this is a online off line game and right now the server can hold up to 24 players, I would like to give you a few screen shots then the links to the game stuff.

Although I been a member of the site from 2012 this is my first posting.

The making of Canvas Knights has been in the works for about 4 years now, its one programmer who designed and owns the game engine, myself that has done all the 3D and most of the 2D for the planes and some other vehicles and ground objects and all the concepts to the game and a few guys that are on my team that have done 3D, 2D, map making and mission making.

The programmer / game engine owner had to take a extended leave of absence because of some real life things going on with him, so not wanting to leave everyone hanging he made a cut version of the game that only airplane and ground vehicles work so that I could give it out free as beta to anyone that would like to try it out while we wait for the full game to come out that will also include ships, subs and lighter then air vehicles.

The game even being beta is fully modable for airplanes, ground vehicles, maps, ground objects, missions and skins, so we have this free beta that we all can enjoy right now while we wait, also anything that is made for the game while it is beta will still work in the full game as the full game will be nothing more the a EXE update to allow for the other kinds of vehicles said above and the few options settings that have been set and locked for the beta game.

We have some new vehicles out today!

CK's Ground Vehicles Release.

These are the new Canvas Knights user operated ground vehicles.
These can be use in online and off line game and if you play off line then you will need these in your game as mission makers will be using them in new missions as moving ground targets, so these must be in your game so the new missions that use these will work for you.

There is 14 vehicles in all 7 each side.

Fabulous! Still my favorite in RED BARON I! You've got the prop decal right!:D Only 49 were built but the 'casserole' spinner caused heating problems and was removed; love the deflectors with the Hotchkiss! The hitboxes are done and the game just takes all the parts and throws them everywhere till I get the damage CFG done to govern the game engine on what to do with the parts.

Hi Adrian, this is one of the special things about CK, in the beta you not only get to fly you also get to
drive/ operate ground vehicles and in the full game you will also be able to have user operated
ships, subs and lighter than air vehicles.

CK's Bleriot 10-2 WIP

This will be the first of two planes for CK that you will be shooting with hand guns!
Like I said to you all some time ago, I will be taking you all the way back to the start of air warfare.

Now I would like to say something to you all.
From when Canvas Knights Beta2 modable game came out back in mid Januray 2014 till the release of this Etrich Taube above here in August 2014 we have brought to you;

12 new airplanes.
16 new ground vehicles.
38 new skins.
25 new offline missions.

Now most times you see me say at the end of a new release ( on to the next plane ) but this time I am going to be taking the next two weeks and will be trying to do a CK EXE game update, what I hope to achieve with this update is to unlock the things that have been lock for the beta game while still keeping it a free game to play, the developer still does not have the time to do this and has given me the ok to try this with the method we talked about by e-mail, if I succeed we will have user operated ships, subs, balloons and Zeppelins and all user option tabs opened, if I don't succeed then I will just go back to making more planes and ground vehicles till the developer can find the time.

Canvas Knights News!

Hello all,

Today I have some good news, the Canvas Knights full paid game update is done and ready!
The hold up right now though is getting the business end setup here in Germany that may take some more weeks then first thought,
Its Germany the land of ( sign ze papers ) :D... many many many many papers :-?

I would like to say that there is one member over at Mission 4 Today that now has the first full CK game and yes it is Darkfall45 so you will be seeing things from him over the next coming days that are not possible with the free CK beta game and maybe he will let you all know what he thinks of the full game now that all game options are open to him.
Also the CK beta testers all have the new full CK game and all is working fine!

This is the last new plane / vehicle for this year 2014.
I will be working next on Austro Hungarian and Italian planes and vehicles to go along with the new Northern Italy map from Ferda Mravenec and over the next few weeks you will all get your first look at the first new vehicle that will be released for this map shortly after the start of 2015.

Now I would like to give you all some statistics of CK.
Canvas Knights was put out to the public on January 17, 2014 and in that short year the modding community of just a few people have brought you this;

14 new ground vehicles by Mossie, Fireskull and Deutschmark.
2 new tanks by Deutschmark.
2 new battleships by Mossie and Fireskull.
1 new U-boat by Fireskull.
2 new observation balloons by Deutschmark.
18 new off line missions by RAF209 Benge.
41 new skins by checkmysix, Sinbad and Deutschmark.
1 new big map by Ferda Mravenec.
And
22 new airplanes by Deutschmark.

What a packed year this has been!!!

Canvas Knights Full Mission Maker Release!

I am sure many of you have been waiting for something like this and now it is here.

Its very easy to use, comes with a in app tutorial that you can keep open while you work with the mission maker so you can refer back to it.

All fields in the mission maker when you click on them have a explanation on the right side of what they are about and as you change things it will then show a explanation of your changes.

You can even make a new mission just by importing different things from other missions and make a whole new mission.

Beautiful! I'm still very busy with the house remodel/upgrade I've been working on to spend much time with the sim, but I did finally get the vehicles sorted.

One question. I have to edit the config file to set the joystick at 1 in order for it to work. The sim is indicating the joystick is active but it isn't until I make the change. It's happened only a few times but I think it will need to be set with some regularity. Am I the only one with this problem?

First thank you glad you like the new bomber :)

Now about your joystick, this above is my joystick and the game config file for it, my stick does not use its own outside profiler and it works fine with the game, I have had only one other that his joystick needed to use its own profiler in order to work with any game and he had the problem that the CK game said the joystick was active but it was not till he made a profile for it with his joystick profiler.

And here we go again! With a doubleheader this time... :)

This is one of the few times in WW1 that the pilots from both sides where flying the same plane for a short time, as Pfalz got a licence to build Morane Saulnier L's before the outbreak of WW1, the few things that where different about them was cockpit parts, engines, guns and the MSL used gun deflector wedges and the Pfalz used the fokker interrupter gear.

Hi Aktungbby, Yes they did!, Roland Garros got most of his kills in a MSL with the deflector wedges before going over to the MSN and using the same deflector wedge setup for it as well.

Yes the bomber variant of this plane was the first in aviation history to use flaps to help in takeoff with heavy bomb loads as it carried 600 LBS of bombs, 3 guns pluss ammo and 2 pilots and that was a lot for a one engine plane at the time.

Actually one of my favs! in Red Baron I...who plagiarized the color scheme from Jean Navarre the Guardian of Verdun! The pilot and back gunner are now in and the guns and engine rocker arms are now working with animations and the bombs are on and working.

He paid tribute to the 4th Prussian Dragoons by having a personal insignia painted on all his planes consisting of a numeral 4 merged with a capital letter D. He would begin his tenure as commander by totaling ten victories in September, and four more in October. Flights in the Schuckert DIII's were limited to defensive operations, as they had orders forbidding flights over enemy lines lest one of the new planes fall into Allied hands. His 25th and last confirmed victory came on 10 October 1918. On October 18, in the confusion of a dogfight, Beaulieu-Marconnay was seriously wounded in the thigh, possibly as a result of 'friendly fire' from a fellow German pilot from Jagdstaffel 74 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jagdstaffel_74). He managed to regain his home airfield and land safely, and was rushed to the hospital, bleeding freely and in very critical condition.
