Apologies to all if this is already on this forum ; I cant find it ...

Basically I'm running GWX and SH3 Commander without any problems, BUT, I have noticed that I must have done something incorrectly as the following is happening :-

1. 'start patrol at sea' option does not work.

2. 'no crew fatigue' does work.

3. time compression for 'radio traffic' does not work.

Regarding my main query, I downloaded Jimbuna's 'all-weather guns' and unzipped the file and then copy + pasted folder into 'Ubisoft/Silent Hunter 3/Mods' folder. This is in the Program Files x86 directory.

I then enabled this mod via JSGME.

Can some kind soul offer a solution please ?....or shall I delete EVERYTHING and start over ? :/\\!!

I believe this could be something to do with the order mods have been applied using JSGME. Post us the mod list so we can find out a bit more. All weather guns is a simple modification of the .cfg file of each playable u-boat as seen below.
Go to the game files wherever they are installed and follow this path ubisoft/SilentHunterIII/data/Submarine. Pick the folder that has your submarine and open the NSS_Uboat(model type).cfg eg. 7c using notepad. Scroll down to the following line:

StormConditions=15,1;max wind speed [m/s], max rain intensity [0,1]
and change the figures displayed to the figures highlighted in red exactly as they appear. You should now be able to use your deck and flak guns in the mightiest tempest. You should do this for all human playable models of submarine while you are at it so you do not get caught out when you change boats.

I wouldn't be installing the game in x86, if your able to use a separate directory.

Thanks fellas, will try and edit the actual cfg. file for my 7b.

I absolutely love using the deck gun and think its essential in stormy weather. I have had torps miss target at 800m in these conditions and that's with the WO handling solution !

Notepad says access denied to edit the cfg. file, cannot bloody believe this !

Yes AH I am...but am now going to do a fresh install of SH3, GWX and SH3 Commander.

Jimbuna said not to install in the 86x directory, so what is an alternative ?

Can you give me a guide on this ?

Thanks for your help pal.

Install to a folder named SH3, for example. Just not Program Files or program Files (x86). Because those 2 files are, by default, protected by User Access Control from being modified.

BTW, I suspect you are having the same problem (UAC) with modifying the .cfg file. Go to Control Panel/User Accounts and give yurself Administrator privileges. That should eliminate problems of this type.

Well that's the problem. For some reason that notepad doesn't like to work with editing those files.(At least it didn't on mine.) You should try Notepad++. It's free and quite good.

Not Notepad, but UAC. Once he got the game out of Program Files (x86), the UAC let him edit whatever he wanted.

Funny as not even that worked on mine. In fact I wasn't even able to get SH3 to work properly until I moved it INTO the (x86) Program Files.

Why have you installed the game into x86 in the first place?

I didn't. I knew the problem it caused so I moved it into its own folder. However turns out that's what was causing me all my problems as one I moved the game folders into x86 the game's been running perfectly.

Once I had done a fresh install into a 'Games' folder instead of the default 86x one, everything works perfect. Did the same the with SH3 Commander and it now works 'hand in glove' with GWX3.

Have now finished-off more than one merchant in storm conditions so watch-out Tommies :arrgh!:
