Sir, Leutenant Fizwalker reporting for duty!

I have received command of the S-32 in the Asiatic Fleet and look forward to many patrols under command of Admiral Hart out of Cavite. The crew is eager to prove what they can do in their 'Pigboat.' What are your oders, Sir?

(I'm a new player to SH4: Wolves of the Pacific, but a long time fan of the Silent Service series of games... Not so much of U-Boats, US submarines in the Pacific. I'm looking forward to learning the ropes and getting a peak at what it must be like to be a skipper of one of these wolves. Pleasure to meet you and I look forward to talking with you further! --Fiz)

Thank you! The hunting grounds should be rich with prey, and if I can get past some stupid decisions... (Like dueling with a destroyer on the surface....>.>) I should learn quickly.... Hopefully. :P

Always good to meet a new captain to the subsim genre. Not everyone enjoys this form of game.
I feel your pain about destroyer duels. I'm one of those "deck gun captains". The real pirate. The one who shoots everything he's got anytime he gets the chance. But after a few quick victories, I get delusions of grandeur shortly thereafter, and have to remind myself that "if I wanted to engage in a surface battle, then I should have just brought a surface ship". Like taking a sword to a gunfight I was waaaaay outclassed.

Thank you for the welcome!

And preferably, I'm looking for a long career with lots of kills...:O: Already have the short ones down pat--Those end with yours truly getting his a** shot off! :haha:

At any-rate, joking aside, I'll take a look at your mods. Frankly, as of my limited experience in SH4, it feels like the damage models are a bit off (I watched a A6M2 fly merrily around with a wing on fire during the AA gun tutorial....>.> I mention that because it's the most obvious. I've seen tankers with the main deck awash from stem to stern and it's still trucking along at a solid 5 knots. I'm a newb and perhaps ships can do that, but it doesn't seem right.)

Thanks again for the welcome guys! :salute:

Speaking of surface duels.... I executed (for me) what was an excellent attack on a convoy, just south of Honshu... I allocated 2 torps per target from a submerged position from my forward 6 tubes and waited at the scope for the mayhem to start... First torp turns out to be a dud... and alerts the escorts, (which happen to be 3 destroyers) that come charging in to kill yours truly. I go deep, one of the DDs eats two of the torps I allocated to a merchie... and dies. I get notified that a Merchie succumbed to one of my torps, alas, I'm too busy to figure out which one. I spend the next 3 hours or so dodging the remaining destroyers and popping up to periscope depth, and empty my boat of torps. It's now dawn, and I've grown impatient--I know there are at least 2 cripples that I can kill if I can just get the time to do it.... I surface next to one, and start pumping shells into it from literally 3 feet away (I scraped alongside the damned thing as I tried to avoid ramming it head on.... >.>)

That's when the first of the remaining destroyers shows up.... I fought it out on the surface, and killed it. Having gained confidence from this--despite being rammed by it...-- I proceed to duel the last one. The last one was too much. I died because I lost fuel and the diesels. That said, I nailed it too. I had a blast.
