If the man is right, then :haha: :har:

:know: Just imagine how many chocolade bars could have been bought with the money sunk in this project. :wah:

Is there anything the F-35 can do?

The only thing this boondoogle has accomplished is that it has somewhat masked the arrival of it's successor technology. Drones and UAVs will out perform, out last and have beat the F35 to operational status. One reason we are still pushing manned fighters is that pilots run the air corps, pilots like to fly and pilots like to be heroes. Imaging yourself sitting in a bar in Omaha talking to a pimple faced computer geek kid in a uniform telling you about the hairiest missions he "flew" from his console.

Same thing in space exploration. Manned space missions get all the attention and most of the money. But's it's the satellites , probes and rovers doing all the work.

It's also nice that at the end the author mentions the risk of having all armed forces basing on just one or two genuine platform design. I would always vote for having a greater diversity in altenrttive platforms in service, so that if one gets compromised by an enemy, not all forces are automatically effected. That starts with sophisticated electronics and carrier platforms, and ends on even a low level like infantry firearms.

On the F35 I always thought that for what it can do it simply is hopelessly, HOPELESSLY, overpriced. Same is true for the F22. Even if technological superiority were given, it can compensate numerical inferiority only to a certain degree, and not beyond. An d a single loss of such an expensive hightech toy scores more hurting than two or three losses of a platform in a fleet where there are more units available.

But probably the whole defence industry in the US is a profit and job generating measurement anyway. The dominant weapons of the coming next major war, are cyberweapons.

And that war has gone hot already.

If the man is right… lol
Also… there is no lack of diversity so far.
Besides that .. all the knowledge base built upon f 35 will most likely come handy in the future.

If true then the blame will be on the Pentagon who laid down the build requirements.

Yes. Can be purchased by Australia.

Of course it can't.:damn:

For the arms industries that is great news as they can now beg for more money for long term research to find out why it is a flop.

The gravy train.

I do hope that this information is given to the Danish Minister of Defence
'cause if this is true, it's a huge.(forgot the word)for F-35

Could be false alarm, but I don't know.

Time to break out the F-117 goblins and send the F-35 back to design.:-?

The F-35 was never intended to fly over Russian airspace ... where would it take off from the Aleutian Islands or a CVA?

They would know the moment it was air born or refueled.

There are lots of Air Force and USN planes in the desert in Arizona that were never used as the original design was meant for ... spells war.

which is just fine with me ... no reason to knock the F-35 ... I say let it fly.

The real problem is Russian jets flying over American soil with permission that may soon be ended: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/04/18/pentagon-moves-to-block-russian-spy-plane-in-american-skies.html

Russian surveillance planes already fly over America, thanks to a long-standing treaty. But a new, ultra-sophisticated spy plane has U.S. military and intelligence bosses spooked.

At least someone was think'n ahead and had a back up plan:

The real problem with the F35 is the reason it was designed and built the way it is appears to have been forgotten.

Well hell, if the F-35 is plagued with all these problems I wonder if Shenyang Aircraft Corporation is regretting their decision to build the J-31 using the plans they stole from Lockheed. :haha:

IIRC this problem has been around for a while now, the F-117 had the same problems.
There's also the problem that any stealth aircraft faces when it rains...

I'd totally forgotten about that....mother nature is a hard one to overcome.

Is there anything the F-35 can do?

1. Cost a lot of money
2. Bring in businesses to specific congressional districts
3. Help congresscritters get re-elected
4. Feed the hungry maw of the MIC

From a congressional standpoint, a success story. :shifty:

It's only money. :/\\!!

It's amazing isn't it? All that money wasted to make a plane's radar cross section the size of a wee little bird, when all you need is a radar homing missile to knock out the radar.:nope:

Crap! I think we messed up. The plans the Chinese stole were the real plans and the ones we used were the fake plans the Chinese were supposed to steal.

Awkward.

The day a country that is known for selling us millions of plastic three wheel scooters for our children can build a better stealth fighter jet, even if they did copy our plans using the internet, can go laugh at themselves when we shoot them down due to it's built in flaws.

This is not about cost overruns with fast food workers wanting $10 an hour ... this is about change in our basic way of American life.

by 2018 everything is going to cost from food to fuel to ship and airplane building. :yep:

Not too mention that it's probably harder to get a manned aircraft to target their own countrymen up close and personal compared to a geek at a console. :hmm2:

That just leaves the question whose plans the Iranians stole to build their "Stealth aircraft"? Has some theme park recently planned to build a stealth aircraft mock up for decoration?:hmm2:

Wasted money! All you need to make an aircraft undetectable is to switch the transponder off. Ask the Malaysians.
