When I left my last job a few weeks ago I was given a £25 (40$) book voucher as a leaving present, rather than spend it on a few smaller submarine-related books I'd like to put it towards a more expensive one that I wouldn't normally be able to afford - any suggestions?

I'm interested in pretty much any era and region, although it'll have to be English language and be able to be bought from Waterstones shop, i.e. new but pretty much any book can be ordered. My max spend will be to top up the money to about £35 (60$).

Thanks in advance!

Les

If you like ancient history, this is good:

THE HISTORY OF THE ANCIENT WORLD by Susan Wise Bauer.

So here's what I bought, I'm about half way through 'Submarine Upholder' and not terribly impressed with it, but looking forward to 'Beneath the Waves' which turned up while I was up in Barrow the last couple of days.
