One of our founding members Dick Lowe, of Save the PT-Boat passed away last week. He was buried yesterday with full military honors.

Dick's pt-323 was hit by a kamikaze, which Dick survived. He was on the forward 30mm gun when the boat was hit and was catapulted into the air. Dick also had a confirmed torpedo hit on a Japanese destroyer at the Battle of Surigao Strait.

They're great guys to talk to.. so many stories and adventures.

A grand old 'friend' of ours died 2 years ago (90), lied about his age, was taken POW at Tobruk a few years later, escaped 3x but never got back.
His eyes always lit up when I talked about the 'dancing girls' :D The wife and his 'partner' eyed us out suspiciously..:salute:

It's so sad to see the Civic Generation pass on. Their Can-do attitudes transformed our country from a failing agricultural experiment into a world mover and shaker. We'll miss such perseverance and resolve.
