uPlay is irritating. Is there a way around this?

I have been trying to deal with the uPlay nonsense for ages now.

I have an ancient copy of SH5 which I bought at first release and it's been sitting on my drive since, being used with a no-cd cracked old version.

I decided I want to try SH5 again and so updated it to 1.2, and couldn't find my old key so I tried to buy a new one on the ubi site but it keeps rejecting my payment and saying "order cancelled by system". I've tried around 5 times and have also contacted support but they have ignored me and won't address the problem.

They don't seem to want my money, but I'd like to play.

Is there any way around this stupid nonsense?

nevermind, I found a way to circumvent uplay.

Go figure the only way to play the damn game is to disable the DRM. Nice job ensuring I won't be forking out cash for ubi products in the future.

Keep getting error code 2.

No idea what to do. Searched, says uninstall and reinstall did that. No luck :( Cant patch to 1.2. Cant mod then. If cant mod. Wont play F U U B I S O F T!

Going to try and just dump the files here into the system and see if that works. Nothing like duct taping an installation. Real professional DRM + Lack of End Product Support

Well this is funny. Truly funny the only means I am able to do this by and get past the error and install issue is to use someones modified EXE. Sorry but I'm going to press on for the boat is calling and well U SUC Ubisoft.

Where/how do I look to see I'm at 1.2. I want to install the MEGA Steel Wolves mod. Its time to get some SH5 going.

Same problem here. I patched to 1.2 but then when I try to logon to the Uplay it asks me for a CD key put it in but for some reason it does not accept and I cannot start the game without the Uplay. What is the DRM and how to I disbale it?

Hi Guys

A few important points.
If you are reinstalling you must use a registry cleaner and afterwards reboot your system.
Make sure you uninstall from the control panel both SH5 and Game Launcher.

Do not install in the default program (X86) folder.
When the installation has completed do this:
Post #5 Just Finished Installing SH5 > Do This Now (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=2182963&postcount=5)

You are quite likely to see a windows error when the game launcher updates.

When you change the game launcher to run as administrator the game should automatically start.

Run all your applications in administrator mode.

SH5 whether you are using a dvd or download is linked for life to your system along with your email address and Uplay password.
If you want to replace your SH5 at any time to your existing system you will need the SH5 key a new email address and new Uplay password.
