Hello I'm trying to resintall the game but I want to know if it possible to play the game with GWX and some few mod on a resolution 1920/1080 without some strange that happened to me when I tried to install it with fiew things.

Sh3 + Patch + GWX (with no activation of these mods) and the resolution fix.

I tried to put the resolution that I want but it was so scary nothing was at the good place . All was approximatly centered to the left. When I was on the peri I saw external view with my guys outside behind the scope...
I try the native resolution of the fix 1360/768 it works too but I don't think that it was correct. On the navmap when I say to my guy to draw the course to the kief canal, he dit that but if we follow the course we do that throw the land.

I hope that what I mean it's understandable :D. English is not my language.

I personally let my videocard driver scale the output of the game to 1920x1080. So I don't need the widescreen mod. Also, the game expects a resolution of 1024x768 to place all the screen content. So with a widescreen resolution some parts of the screen would not be used, or it would get stretched out of proportion. I'll let other with more experience respond to this.

As for the Kiel Kanal route. This is likely not caused by the resolution. It is probably because you have an improperly placed waypoint (or none at all). The game just adds the waypoints to what is already there. So first place your own waypoint on the spot, and let the game add to it.

The only problem I had with the hi res mod was that when you clicked out of a scope view the cursor lands on the fire button and launches a torpedo. The fix for me was to install the Hitman Optics UI which moved the fire button, among other things.

What do you mean by that ? You'v got the game like a recent game wich support recent resolution ? Is that possible for me? I have a Radeon 7970.

Because before I tried to fix the resolution it was only on 1024/768 :down: plenty of my display but the graphisms were too bad. I thought I was in 1995 with an old pc :haha:.

@Steve
Wich fix do you use ? I tried the "Conus SH3GWXWS 2.3" because I had the GWX 3.

Already I'm trying just a basic install with only SH3 and the basic fix "SH3_XPSP2_Res_Fix_for_1.4b.zip\" for see if it works.

I thought I was in 1995 with an old pc :haha:.No, the game still thinks it is 1024x768. It is just that it is stretched by hardware to maintain aspect ratio to 1920x1080 (read: stretch and add black borders left and right) before output to the screen. I think the widescreen mod does something similar, but in a makeshift way with a special DLL. I have a Nvidia chipset so I have to change some settings in my Nvidia Control Panel, but it is built-in and automatic. I'm pretty sure ATI/Radeon will have something similar. But you will have to do your own experimenting as I don't have that software.

It does introduce some blurryness. But that is less of a problem for me than an elliptic periscope view. As far as I know Makman's Magui Widescreen mod is the only one that properly makes use of al the extra pixels by rearranging the GUI. But I have yet to try it out for myself. [EDIT] No, he's not the only one anymore. I guess I lost track of what happened on this front.

The Kiel Canal courselines unfold into the quadrant the last leg of your own plotted course heads to. Approaching the inbound point from the south-west (=> heading north-east) will unfold the course to the north-east - following the canal perfectly. The outbound point works accordingly.

Hmmmm I don't know what the best.If it is all around then it probably doesn't stretch it. Just centers it. It will keep the sharpness quality, but not use the screen as much as possible. Yeah, it's always a preference thing.

Ok I thought that I can plot it anywhere to bring me home.

For now it works with Pisces's tweak but with all around black area not only left and right.

Ps : The ratio is respected the head of my guys are not looking like a ball of rugby.

I am using this fix:

SH3_XPSP2_Res_Fix_for_1.4b

I am running GWX3.

My d3d9.cfg config file has this:

resX=1920
resY=1080

This is my monitor's native resolution. It results in a full-screen, though slightly stretched in the horizontal, hi-res experience.

The downside to it is you can no longer make screen shots as it will cause a crash to desktop. Nor will applications like FRAPS work.

Since I had apply the Pisces's tweak who let my videocard driver scale the output of the game to 1920x1080 the "SH3_XPSP2_Res_Fix_for_1.4b" with a stock game works :hmmm:.
I do nothing more just the option of my videocard to scale the game. Everything looks fine plenty of my display on all the station. Let's try with GWX 3 now.
By the way there is a new file to had the GWX 3 up to date the "GWX 3 Wilhemshafen,St Naz,Schluese and xtra ships V6". I don't really understand how to install it. In my previous install I had the entire file on my MODS folder (wich I unzip of course)at the end of all the GWX optional file wich I wanted to activate on JSGME.
If I understand well this new file add to the "MODS" 4 folders even if I don't want to activate it on the original GWX optionnal files. For example he add, erase when activate it the "Lite harbor traffic" option.
I'm correct ? I guess I'm not really install it correctly.
So the question is how and when install and activate it ?

The read me file says that we must install before, this new file and then the others optionnal files we wanted. If I do that all other mods that modify the "data" folder will erase the modifications of the "V6".
I don't really know the order of files that I should activate.
For now I plannify to add those MODS after the stock game wich I found here :http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=202719

-GWX 3 don't know what really nead to activate, I guess (16k-alternative flotillas-american officiers-enhanced dammage effects-merged campaign-intagrated orders-camouflage for german aircarft-nav map and grid references english-no crew medals-french fix "for me":D)
-SH3 commander
-GWX 3 cfg for commander
-Just follow orders
-Hardcoded fixe
-Addon for hardcoded fixes
-Change ship acceleration and COG
-Superturms
-New 3d interiors
-Hitman's GUI

I don't know the orders and if those mods are compatible each others.
Add maybe some effects and environments mod ? Like Sh5 water for sh3 ?
Some other mod should I have ?

I asked about this the other day and am still confused. I run 1.4+gwx+ the widescreen mod.

The ini file is set to 1360 x 768. I have a 24" monitor running an nvidia 760gtx superclocked. My standard desktop resolution is 1920x1200 currently with win7 ultimate 64 bit.

HOW do i get it to display on the entire screen? What setting do I choose in Nvidia control panel? Right now it is set to true widescreen with about a 2" border on the top and bottom of the screen.

Thanks in advance :)

This: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Graphic/Graphic-Capture/Howie-s-Quick-Screen-Capture.shtml is the one I use. Maybe it will work for you. I set it to work with the scroll-lock button. If I forget to load it up before starting SH3, I alt/tab back to my desktop and load it up then without any problems. It also makes a nice camera sound when taking a screenshot which I personally find kind of neat.

In your Nvidia control panel set the scaling to aspect ratio and perform scaling on gpu. That should help. Part of the problem you have is your native res has a 16:10 apsect ratio and the one you're attempting to use is 16:9. That may still result in some black bars showing. The other problem is the game was never designed to run at the res your asking it too. There will always be a compromise. Personally, I have mine set to run at a 4:3 aspect ratio. I have a black bar at either side 1-3/4 inches wide each, with a 22" monitor. I can live with that, but, hey, that's just me. Your mileage may vary.
