Some might know of this ill fated raid, but this is the first time I've heard of it, 95 aircraft shot down and 545 men lost in one night! They had more courage then I could muster for something like this!

Of 795 aircraft that took off from British bases to target Nuremberg on March 30, 1944, 95 would not return.

More RAF men died in blazing aircraft that night – 545 – than the total killed during the entire 15 weeks of the Battle of Britain.

I felt so sorry for that pilot who struggled to bring his torn up Halifax home, only to lose his life when they crash landed! A true hero in every sense of the word!:Kaleun_Salute:
