View Full Version : Time compression reset to 1x with radio message

I seem to get my time compression reset to 1x when I get the "New Message Received" from my radio man.

With the amount of messages that is scripted in GWX 3.0, I am wondering if there is any tools or changes I can make to re-configure that to a higher compression ratio? (EG 128x).

EVEN if it's a convoy spotted, at 128x I still wouldn't have travelled too far so that I can still action and respond to the report.

Any help welcome.

PS Bear in mind that that although I've been seen on the forums before, I've only JUST got back into using SH3, GWX and SH3 Commander.

Are you using SH3 Commander to launch Silent Hunter 3? If so:

Open SH3 Commander

Click the Options Icon on the bottom of the panel (wrench)

Select Time Compression

Click "When receive radio report"

Then select the desired time compression value from the list on the right (128X)

Click Apply then Click OK

next time you run SH3 using SH3 Commander your time compression should reduce to the value you have selected when you receive a radio report

Thought it might be something simple! :)

However, when I looked at the options in my copy, it would seem that it's all greyed out. Could this be because my skipper is currently out at sea on a mission?

I'll try adjusting it again once we arrive back in Lorient following Patrol #1 for Mr Kerstan.

I tried the adjustment when I had my skipper in port but it's not had the desired affect - I am still getting adjusted back to 1x when my radioman calls out "new message received" - I don't want to sit there and have numerous background war reports stagnating my progress...feels almost as bad as getting :spammm: over the radio!

Just open the main.cfg (C:/user/yourname/documents/SH3/data/cfg/ ) with notepad or texteditor and change the values.

[TIME COMPRESSION]
TimeStop=0
RealTime=1
LandProximity=256
CriticalDamage=1
CrewEfficiency=1
AirEnemyDetected=1
SoundEffects=2
CharacterAnim=64
EnemyDetected=256
RadioReport=256
Particles=64
PrayState=256
HunterState=256
3DRender=256
Maximum=16384

Is a nice config in my opinion.

Did you roll back SH3C before making the adjustment? If not, Commander will reset to what you had before. Unless you create a lot of mods it's best to set SH3C to 'Auto-Rollback'.

I'll try setting up the main.CFG and see what occurs. I ensure that I roll-back SH3c every time I use it, and I always use it (SH3c) when I am playing my campaign.

I tried to alter the setting before using commander but with no effect.

Also I see the wording is "radio report" which i think refers to when you get a report about where a convoy is on the map - doesn't seem to be anything anywhere which refers to the "NEW MESSAGE RECEIVED" as shouted out by your radioman and then the game returns to 1x.
