Well I just got SH5 for my birthday and like SH3 and SH4 before it I'm going to download mods before I even play it. I already know that i'll be downloading the Open Horizons II mod what I need to know is what other great mods go with it? Please note that I play the game semi-realistically. That means while I play DiD I don't use manual torpedo targeting so any mod that forces me to use manual targeting is a no go for me.

Ok i've got a problem. Do you need to do the tutorial mission in Stock SH5 in order for it to work? I can't get past the "you need to sink two more enemy vessels" part of it. The game doesn't register me sinking them for some reason.

At the Campaign Screen, type in silentotto then enter, and it opens up all of the campaigns.

You can also go into the career.cfg ( in My Documents under SH5 ) and set the Tutorial Mission to True from false and that will do the trick But you must start a campaign, then exit it, then change the career.cfg as mentioned for t his to work.

Thanks but I figured it out. I just did the tutorial with the stock game and it solved the problem. Also as much as I want to unlock everything from the start i'd rather earn it. Thanks for the info though. Now if only someone could help me with me mod question :hmmm:

Sure, mate. Welcome to this side of the neighborhood, seen your name mostly on SH4. I have played SH3 and 4 extensively, too. SH3 I graduated to GWX 3.0

I play in auto targeting, too. The best that I can describe to play autotargeting is opposite of SH3 and 4 which you lock a target and fire. In SH5, you lock then break lock (same as unlock target in SH3 or 4) then fire (I use a Graphical user interface called Multiple UIs for TDC for SH5, am guessing that stock uses same terms, lock and break lock.)

Now if only someone could help me with me mod question :hmmm:

All mods, IIRC have threads listed in the sh5 mods workshop.

Hopefully, you did NOT purchase the steam version of sh5. If you did NOT purchase STEAM, then you can use [TEC] SH5.exe patcher by TDW. The SH5.exe patcher is NOT a mod by itself when you uncompress it. You must enable changes for patcher and then save changes. How to use patcher help at bottom of post #1. Sjizzle patcher help thread is most current.
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=181433

Patcher can be made moddable AFTER you make changes to it and save the changes. Saving changes is called a snapshot similar to saving profile or modlist for JSGME. Patcher needs to be recreated or features reenabled at every patch version.

Collection of mods
[inf] sobers mega mod - (not to be confused with sober bonus mod list by someone else) been around the longest - used graphical user interface, Multiple UIs for TDC for SH5 (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=166093), all download links on post #2 - he keeps it very current.
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=192374

Sjizzle's mod list thread - similar to sober's mega mod but uses CSP magui Interface (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=181370) by Dr jones, a graphical user interface

Fifi's mod list - haven't seen too many posts on this for months. Maybe two or 3 pages in the forums. Has mod compilation with either graphical user interfaces mentioned above.

Wolves of Steel-sh5 megamod- another mod collection- as one install package from all modders - always being worked on by vdr1981- closest attempt to GWX 3.0 but not really.

Thanks for the response guys. I'm currently using Open Horizons 2.5 and once I either finish the campaign or die i'll download some of them. Plus I still need to get use to fact i've got no keyboard shortcuts for the periscope, gun etc etc.(Anyone make an OH II.V compatible that fixes that?) Besides that though the game looks absolutely stunning and is a huge graphical leap when coming from SH4. With that said the only time I lag is when I look directly at a ship on fire. Seems strange though since the explosions and fire effects actually seem less nice compared to SH4.(And SH3 to some extent even.)

Alright got another question for you guys. I was trying to escape from a depth charge attack from some surprisingly tenacious destroyers for 1940 and I was having a harder time then I should of. The reason for that is apparently if you take the sub lower the 50 or so meters you can't run at silent speed without the thing sinking to the depths of the ocean. Anyone know what's causing that and is there a mod that fixes the problem?

Hello Admiral Halsey,

I think that is a bug that is taken care of by the patcher Mikemike47 comments.

Please any one correct me if I'm wrong...

Ah... Looks like I know what's going to eventually kill me then. Then again it will allow me to finally get some more mods other then OH 2.5 since I want to finish the campaign before downloading any other mods or at least die trying.
