I've downloaded mods that are Campaigns for SH3 and I assume one places them in the Campaign folder which is in the data folder, but I don't know how I access a Campaign from the game. Can someone explain what loading screens I use to access a campaign? The only choices from the loading screen that I see are Naval Academy, Career, Single Mission, Multiplayer, Museum, Options, Credits and Exit. Where do I go for the Campaign?

I think you can only have one campaign mod enabled at a time. You start the campaign by opening the career option and start a new career. I recommend starting with the 2nd flotilla you can start in a Type VIIB and upgrade to a Type IXB fairly early. They're based in Lorient from June 1940 I think (dont quote me on that). Although if you have alternative campaigns you know already where and what you want to sail.

You would start a new career for the campaign to work.

Thanks for your reply. Let me make sure I understand what you're saying. I can drop a campaign I downloaded from Subsim into the campaign folder and then access it from the career option when I begin a new career?

"The SH3 campaign" is the complete WWII scenario for the German U-Boote, but lacks traffic in the Black Sea or the Far East.

Modders have added the missing scenarios but didn't want to merge it into the original data, because the loading time and the cpu consumption suffered heavily.

Some have even split the original data into smaller campaigns (Artic/NorthAtlantic/Med/SouthAtlantic/US) to reduce the problems.

If you want to play a special campaign scenario, you'll have to replace the original data with your chosen one.

Starting a new career matching the installed "campaign" timeframe and location will spawn you into your little world.

JSGME - the general mod enabler - will help you to manage your differnet campaigns.

The first is true, the second is not entirely true. It applies to all campaign careers that you currently have running (not dead/ended by capture/whatever). Changing those campaign files mid-patrol is obviously a bad idea for the ones you actively play. So starting a new campaign (effectively a new patrol) is the proper way, but it is not restricted to them. So be careful if you want to alternate between commanders.

Overwriting the files in the campaign folder voids the older campaign. As already stated, with possibly nasty effect for other running careers.

Make sure you replace the campaigns through using JSGME (perhaps you might need to make your own mod-folderstructure). That way the older campaigns are kept as a backup when you enable the mod, and will be reverted when disabling it.
