Nice tonnage Capt. Rush. :salute:

If you had the tonnage reduction mod you would have been done with Coastal Waters at 25,000 tons. Read about it here... download page.

Anyone using OHII should not use this mod as it will stop OHII working:ping:

Trev, now I see what you mean. Reduced Tonnage mod is now removed. Thanks for your advice and input. :salute:

As I asked in the other thread, is can this mod be added to OHII in the future or as a patch if it's not already included. Mission tonnage requirements are a bit overboard without it. BTW.. I have used it with past OHII versions with no problems. Fishing boats and other ships did show up with it used.

Edit:
I apologize I've gone OT on you Rush. It was not my intention to hijack your thread. Once Trev sees my comments this post can be deleted.

Its all good. The tonnage is high, i'm on my 3rd trip to the British coast - not including my run to scapa flow. My biggest issue at this minute is that i cant hit a damned thing. I ran into a HUGE lightly escorted convoy going into a harbor but i just cant hit anything with a torpedo and i get pounded if i try a surface attack.

No no no.... never try a surface attack. LOL It's a long walk home if you're lucky. ;)

Do you still have the 1 2 3 alignment lines showing on the attack map? If so get the No 1-2-3 Torpedo Alignment mod to get rid of them.
Found here..... http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1691

This is not manual targeting and is done without TDW's UIs. It's been working just fine for me so far. Knock on wood. :)

Set your torpedo depth, and set the speed for your steam torpedos. I keep a chart listing the different keel depths for the different ships. You can remember keel depths without the recognition manual for most ships once you played a while. Just hit around 4.4 to 5.2 meters if you if you don't have time to check. I say that because there are times you don't have enough time to check and you must make a snap shot if they're closer that 1000 meters.

When you lock on a target that will set everything. Break lock and keep the crosshair where you want the torpedo to hit.... center, fore, aft, or anywhere in between. Fire and you should hit your target. Tho speed of the target will affect your aim if the target is real close.

Now this is important. If you do turn on the TDC to see the recognition manual make sure you turn it off and Break Lock before you fire. If you forget you will only waste a torpedo, unless your firing into a good size convoy and get lucky.

An example for a destroyer heading straight at my U-boat and is out at 2000 meters or more. Battle Stations and Silent Running are on and I turn to head straight at the target, or turn so it's 180 for a stern shot. I leave the torpedo depth as it is (1.9) or no lower than 2.9 meters. I'll make sure I have a steam torpedo and set it to it's fastest speed and the Pistol is set for magnetic. Zoom in on the attack map so you see the compass grid and distance out. When the destroyer get's within 800 meters I fire straight at it's bow. 90% of the time I can sink it. When they change speed and direction is when you miss. Tho usually they'll barrel right at you. If it's a miss then dive as fast as you can and knuckle right or left. Get back to Silent running, sneak off, and wait them out if you can.

I've been doing it this way since SH3 and 4 and it works fairly well. The first mission to British Coastal Waters on my reinstall I sank 11 ships including 3 17,000 ton troop ships. A total tonnage was 112,781. And then I was sunk on the second patrol and lost my sub.

Good luck and sink em all Rush. :salute:

Thanks for the advice GT. I am using TDWs UI right and like it. I've watched a series of tutorials how to do a manual firing solution, but the situation i am in is tight.

Essentially I'm two large tankers away from completing the British coastal waters (already completed the scapa flow mission before 15/10/1939). I just want to get to willhamshaven for a bunker save before i go to 2.5! Though, i may just do a fresh install and adjust my mod list a bit....but I'm not sure how much i want to hassle with it anymore.

That said, i tried to make a run on one harbor and it was empty. Moved up to the northern reaches of the patrol area for another shot at a different harbor. Every time i get in there the fog is so thick i can't see anything. I'm trying to run down the coast to hit two other harbors and i run into a HUGE convoy. As far as i can tell they only have one escort.

There are probably like 10 - 15 ships of various sizes. I'm basically heading right at them. I dive, use a little TC to get closer. They are zig zagging so i can't really do much in terms of getting an accurate shot on them. I've tried my luck with a 3 or 4 torpedo spread and i usually get one that's able to hit but by that time im more or less through the convoy and trying to turn around and catch up is suicide. I really don't want to go back to Heligonald and refit and then have to go back out. :hmmm:
