Hi everyone, decided to join this place and get into playing some Silent Hunter again.

At one point I had Silent Hunter 3 but I unfortunately never really got into it but have decided to give the series another go and even get round to installing some mods.

Not too sure which game to start to play I have just installed Silent Hunter 5 which I've never played and also have Silent Hunter 3 on my shelf I could also install. I'm guessing you guys would recommend just sticking with 5 and installing some mods?

Took a look at the mod pages and there seems to be loads of choice and various packs which has made me a little confused as to what to go with any recommendations would be appreciated. I know for sure I want the German language mod but beyond that I don't know.

Actually a great many stand squarely behind SH3, because there are a lot more options for playing styles. That said, if you never really got into SH3 you might find SH5 more to your liking. The best thing is to look through the dedicated forums for both versions and ask questions there. You'll find many adherents for both versions and many people who will be more than glad to help with any and all questions.

Welcome!!

I skipped right from SH2 to SH5, so I can't give an opinion on both, but for what it's worth, I plan to get 3 and 4 at some point as well.

Again, welcome aboard!! :arrgh!:
