Been playing SH4 into late 1943.. all of the sudden SH4 has started hanging when doing a Load.. Not all files cause this. I had to go back and re-do and Osaka photo session.. Then, after I took out a Carrier on my way to the next assignment, I can't load the game I saved when I quit for the day. Had to go all the way back to just clearing out of Osaka..
Any Ideas? I'm running SH 1.4 on Windows 7-64 bit.
It hasn't been a problem until about 3 days ago.
I took a hint from another thread about compatibility mode, to no avail.
Thanks
Mike
any updates or mods since saving? I would just pay the 9.99 and buy the v1.5 Uboat missions add on from amazon. I haven't had any saving problems since i upgraded from v1.4
This "problem" has plagued many of us, certainly me, since first playing with version 1.5. However, the frequency of it occurring has diminished since I used the Large Address Aware feature. I run on XP 32 bit and Win 7 64 bit and this feature allows the game to run with more memory, up to 3 mb of allocated memory, if you have it. I don't have a link for it but just Google it or search the forum. I still get this Save issue, but I save often before action and often throughout a mission so not to totally lose the campaign.

It's a known bug to the game. If you save, and overwrite the same save files, they eventually become corrupted. To counteract this, save in a different file each time. I start a file while in the office after promotions, etc. Then I add a number to it for every save afterwards. For instance: "Fireftr", "Fireftr1", "Fireftr2", etc.
There is also a related save bug that went with older computers. It seemed that anytime when a person saved while in middle of a battle, stalking a convoy, etc. there were problems. As a result a few rules were made up. The best time to save out of port is during clear weather, nothing in the sensor zone, and on the surface. Do not save during a battle, stalking a convoy, close to land, etc. To be honest, I never had any problems with this bug.
