Hi all,

I have SH3 running on Windows 7 64bit, Lenovo Z500 laptop with NVIDIA GeForce GT740M. Running SH3 with widescreen mod, 1366x768.

Mod list:

Now, my problem is visual artifacts with water. It changes color depending on where I'm looking. Usually it's normal looking, but sometimes it goes pitch-black while I'm panning the view, or when looking through binoculars.

Linking two screenshots. It shows how water changes just by looking up or down a bit.

How do I fix this? Some people reported having problems with NVIDIA cards that were solved with tweaks via Nhancer, however, it doesn't work with newer cards like mine.

Please help - this is very irritating... Thanks in advance :salute:

I downloaded that NVIDIA Inspector, set up all settings as per screenshot. But how do I make them apply to the game? I'm launching SH3 via SH3 Commander, so I can't use shortcut.

From that link I posted above it looks like there is an option to apply the changes made to the sh3.exe with Inspector.

I tried it like that, but there is no visual change to anything.

Is this just something that happens in dock? Any anomalies at sea?

Both at dock and at the sea. But at sea it's random, while it occurs more often in dock.

I'll look at this more a bit later on. I am sure I have seen something similar to this before in a thread here :yep:

Looks like your running on your laptops integrated intel card rather than your geforce. If i remember right the widescreen mod is incompatible with nvidia's optimus system that chooses between the high and low power cards so you will be stuck running on the intel and this is a standard glitch present on all intel cards.

Flakmonkey, you may be right. How can I solve this? Widescreen is a must...

Sadly never found a fix for this. I either have to live with a 4:3 aspect ratio or screwed up water in widescreen

I have found this:

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33227/?

A dll claimed to fix this issue for any game. I tried it, however, SH3 won't load. Flakmonkey, I believe you are a mod maker - could you please take a look at that dll? Maybe it's possible to adjust for SH3, or take widescreen dll designed for SH3 and modify with the example of that Skyrim dll?

Actually just found something strange with this. Try updating to the latest nvidia drivers 335.23 I think. I installed them yesterday and it seems to have fixed the issue. I have a similar sys to yours, bit older I think with a gt540m.

For whatever reason, now if I set the global settings to use the nvidia gpu in the nvidia control panel sh3 now displays properly with the widescreen mod. Before the new drivers it would always default to the Intel card with the widescreen mod.

I have something similar to this.It seems that it is allied to the sun or the moon.It starts as a line of whitish colour and as you move the view it then goes totally Whitish.I have the latest NVidia Drivers and its not done anything to rectify it.Its not a game breaker but it just spoils the experience.

Dear Flakmonkey,

You just made my day. You saved me from a hopeless crash dive. This needs to be made sticky, so that other Kaleuns would be sparred the horrors of internal GPU.

Thank You, thank You so much.
