Link to the Patcher.

“TDW’s Generic File Patcher” is a stand alone application. DO NOT put this in “JSGME” or in any SH5 folders.

Make copies of the following from your “SH5 Main Ffolder”, copy and paste them in to a new folder somewhere for safe keeping.

Likely looking main folder path. C:\Games\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5

Sh5.exe

SHCollisions.act

SHSim.act

SHSound.act

SH_NClient.dll

SimData.dll

Cameramanager.act

Make another new folder and put it somewhere where you can find it easily as you will need to use this folder each time you want to make changes to the “Patcher”.

Give it a name you remember “TDW Patcher 152” or similar.

Download the “Patcher”.

Click on the “Generic Patcher Icon” This is the “Application” and then select your language and double click on it.

Click on “File”.

Click on “Open”.

You will be asked to select your first file path.

This is your main “Silent Hunter 5 Folder”.

It may look something like this:

Computer

C:

Games

Ubisoft

Silent Hunter 5

Click once on the “Silent Hunter 5 Folder” without opening it.

Click on “OK”.

Do exactly the same for the remaining 6 files.

You will now see the “7 Patcher Files.”

Highlight the file you want to open.

You press on the + to open the “File”.

File.

Exit.

To close it.

RETURNING TO THE PATCHER

Click on the “Generic Patcher Icon.

Go to “File”.

Go to “Open.”

Accept all of the prompts with “Ok” as they open.

Highlight the “Patcher File” you want to open.

You press on the + to open the “File”.

“File”.

“Exit”.

To close the “Patcher”.

This is a pictorial link below is from an older 5 files version that has now been replaced by the 7 files 152 version but it is done the same way.

As you can see this way is using the “Disabled Mod” way in “JSGME”

This link below shows you how the Patcher has developed.

I HAVE SEEN A NEW PATCHER WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

Go to your existing “Patcher”.

Open it as you would normally do.

Go to “File”.

Select “Take Snapshot”.

This shows you the “Snapshot Folder” that is within your “Patcher Folder”.

Give it a “File Name” I will use “05.03.2014”

Now click on “Save”.

You will now be shown a “Confirmation Box”.

“Ok” it.

You have now created a “.gps file” of all your “Patcher” settings.

Install your “New Patcher” carrying out the installation instructions.

When the installation has completed.

You should now see the “7 Patch Files”. If they are correctly installed.

Go to “File”.

Select “Restore Snapshot”.

This is in your Old Patcher “Snapshot Folder”.

“05.03.2014.gps” This is the one I made previously.

Click on it.

It will now drop in to “File Name”.

Click on “Open”.

Your “Patches” have been installed on your “New Patcher”.

“Ok” to the “Confirmation Box”.

You can now open up the “New Patcher” and see if there are any “New Patches” that you want to enable.

Do I need to keep my “Old Patcher”? Only if you are sentimental.

Yes I know of this one. It is the old version with fewer files and it wants you to put it in JSGME which was ok at the time but not now.

How about sending a post to TDW on his [tec] patcher thread to add this to the "How to use patcher" threads at the post #1. His PM mailbox is generally always full.

I will create a post on my JSGME thread someday on how to make TDW patcher moddable AFTER anyone makes changes to the current TDW patcher version.

Thanks for your input Sjizzle this is exactly the sort of thing we need to help people.

I wish there was a place where the tutorials would all be in one place with links to your stuff also the Patcher and JSGME etc., where all this stuff could be found easily.

it is difficult for those coming into the game to even know what they need or where to find it.

As far as I know there is only the beginners guide if you can find it.
