View Full Version : Please help! problem with nav map...
I'm playing SH5 in win7 x64 on my macbook pro. My GFX card is intel HD3000. I have everything on low and it runs decent. But when I'm on the nav map I can't see my sub. I was trying to set a course and it took me forever to figure out why I couldn't, and it was because my sub doesn't even show up on the map!
Anyone else ever had this problem before?

I can't play SH5 at all due to my archaic rig. I'm not trying to compare problems or anything like that - I'm just saying I won't be much help, but I wanted to say WELCOME ABOARD! :sunny:

Are you running any mods and/or playing on 100% realism?

It's not 100% realism but I have quite a few mods installed right now. I'll admit, I'm clueless as to what I'm doing with the mods. Here's a screenshot of what I have right now:

If anyone can suggest a better mod layout please let me know...
also, here is what my nav map looks like in game. That little blue dot to the lower left is my sub's position. The only reason the dot is there is because I clicked all over the map until I found my position and started a waypoint.

I'm guessing this could possibly be from me not having a powerful enough GPU, if that's the case then I guess I gotta go back to SH3 :shifty:

Enjoi the issue your having is you are running "real navigation" - take a look at the last active mod in your list (the right hand collumn of the mod enabler). This disables all map "helpers" and requires you use the navigator to determine your position, the compass to steer your boat, and the map tools (pencils, rulers, protractors, etc) to map out your course and then determine firing solutions for your weapons systems prior to engaging enemy boats.
I am FAR from an authority - I've only been here for about two weeks the best advice i can offer you is to go to the SH5 Mod workshop forum and read through some of the well written / throughout threads for beginners.
SH5 Mod Guide for Beginners by Trevally (with contributions from others) (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=190656)
SH5 Popular mods, tools, technical advice & tactical tips (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=162013)
My second recommendation is that you REALLY consider using one of the "mega mods" created by some of the more senior membership here. They take all of the hassle out of trying to put one together yourself (they have all spent time testing it to ensure stability). I've probably had to install and re-install SH5 about 25 times :D because of mistakes on my part or incompatibilities because i didn't understand what i was doing. Two of the more recent all-in-one mega mod's:
"Wolfes from the Deep by Sjizzle" (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=211311)
"Wolves of Steel" (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=210703)
If you do, however, choose to install modifications on your own (again, there is nothing wrong with this but it is daunting for a beginner) i recommend you either directly follow some of the mega mod lists offered by some of the senior members:
Sobers Mega Mod List (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=192374)
Sjizzle's Mega Mod List (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=204308)
Make sure to read through the instructions twice and follow them directly as the author has written them.
I hope this helps.
Thanks Rush! I have tried looking through the mod threads but it's all so damn confusing! There's thousands of mods and I have no clue where to begin with it all lol
