So the coroner makes a mistake... a pretty serious one. Through luck, no one actually died.
And the coroner calls it a "miracle". :nope:
I would call it "time to get another coroner" :yep:
It is still a shame that in too many states a Coroner does not need to be a doctor. The qualifications to be a "Coroner" in Mississippi?
Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent
Be 21 years of age or older
Be a qualified elector of the county in which elected
Attend the Mississippi Crime Laboratory and State Medical Examiner Death Investigation Training School, successfully completing all exams on the subject matter presented
To be a chief medical examiner investigator (CMEI), in Mississippi, you don't need any other qualifications. That's pretty sad. :nope:
At least Mississippi is better than Indiana. In 2007 in Indiana, a 17 year old high school senior passed the required coroner examination and was appointed a deputy coroner. :doh:
