So , you have met another Uboot in open ocean.
Thomsen , das ist Thomsen .... Das Boot.
Even the weather is similar to the one in the movie.

I've seen that a bunch of times. I came across a British sub about a week ago or so that I took out with the deck gun. She returned fire Causing about 2% damage to the hull, but I guess my gunners were just a little better and down she went. :yeah:

Same happened to me, but a bit differently. One, the Brit sub was escorting a convoy, and two... I was in a pocket battleship :D
Take it for what it is. A rare mid ocean meeting of brother U-boats. Just another little interesting tidbit among many in this great game.:salute:

It's always good to meet a friend whilst out on patrol.

It might be a little hard to see but it was a type VIIC uflak platform cruising on the surface
This was actually a pretty successful patrol, with over 50,000 tons sunk over the course of two months in my type IXC
Yeah, ran into that 'flak-trap' boat about a year ago in that same area. Very cool.

I'm not sure you'll come across any if your playing the stock game.
I have often encountered friendly U-Boats off the Norwegian Coast during the April 1940 campaign. On one occasion a Type IIb overtook me on the same course less than 200 Metres of my starboard side (in foul weather so he appeared out of the fog when really close) and even when I went to 'Flank Speed' I couldn't catch up with him! What was that all about?

A. It's the wife
B. It's the boss
C. Stay off that French moonshine.
:har:
Nothing odd going on I'm sure everyone sees another U-Boat from time to time.

This is weird...
Have not seen a u-boat at sea yet but did encounter a convoy with an S2 sub sailing in convoy--- not as escort but inline--- and I sank the freighter that was sailing right in front of him~! The sub flew no flag but he did have a deck-gun crew at the ready.:hmm2:
There was also a Southampton Class sailing in the middle of that same convoy--- which I crept up within 600-700 meters on his starboard, and sank him easily: like shooting fish in a barrel~!???:sunny:
Darned if I didn't snap any pictures~!

The "S" in "S-Class" stands for "Styrofoam". Because that's what they are made of. Try to sink one and you will see.

Really? Well, mostly I let sleeping dogs lie... Actually this is first time I've encountered an S2 and did not know if he could fire torps at me while I was submerged. Then I assumed it would at least shell me if I was surfaced, no? But since it had no 'watch' I guess the AI did not see my periscope not 1000 meters away and when I gave that leading merchant my last 2 fish we crashed dived away and that's the rest of the story.
To be sure now, QUESTION: do S3's actually shoot torpedoes or only shell you?
AI submarines in SH3 cannot shoot torpedoes. It's a game limitation. They can shell you though.

Some torpedo-carrying units in the various SH3 mods were equipped with modified invisible shells with high damage values; this was as a work-around to torpedoes. So be careful.
