View Full Version : Meanwhile In Venezuela
This one seems to be slipping under the radar better than a Nighthawk, it seems to have kicked off quite dramatically in Venezuela. I must admit, I did not even know that there was trouble there until a brief mention in my twitter feed. Somewhat overshadowed by events in the Ukraine, but nevertheless still quite relevant, and if the US wanted to wedge a crowbar into Venezuela, now is the time to do it.

Its been in the news for weeks, hit the 2nd headline spot on Wednesday after Lopez was arrested.
Ukraine takes top spot as its more sorta local.

There has been some mild unrest in Venezuela for some time. It was mainly peaceful, so there hasn't been much reported about it. Well, now it has exploded. I suspect we'll be hearing more soon.

That's correct but I guess most people have as little interest in it as me, hence the lower news/interest ranking.

Could you throw a dart at a world map and not hit a hot spot of governmental oppression by narcissistic elitists trying desperately to maintain their status quo?
Once they gain their so called power, they are loathe to give it up without a fight.:-? What's really morose is the ones who have their power wrenched away from them by force, usually end up committing suicide because they can't take a dose of their own medicine.
Moral: "Who is the greater fool? The fool or the fools who follow them?"

"paramilitaries, arrested merely for protesting, established local Human Rights NGO pleas for investigation, widespread reports of torture of detainees, dozens of serious human right abuses, mercenaries, shooting, tear gas canisters, soldiers shooting civilians on the street..."
It really looks as if the US have one of their typical CIA southern America interventions going on :hmmm:

You could be right. Venezuela has a valuable commodity to be exploited $OIL$

You're not interested in that and that's really not your fault, Jim, western media play with the public opinion with maestria. Following the news when it comes to all anti-imperialist countries myself, and the united states of America are of the opposite opinion when it comes to Venezuela, of course. Some alleged coup d'état orchestrated by the CIA continues in a deafening diplomatic silence, while on another front, we don't stop hearing about Ukraine, that geostrategic linchpin between Russia and the West that passed back into the fold of Russia 3 years ago, following some catastrophic years under the "orange" domination.
I like the fact most people make the connection between these 2 news, hehe.
The tactic is absolutely the same : extensive financial support to a false opposition + widespread dissemination of media untruths related to "the repressive policy" directed by those countries. And the goal is the same too : weakening Russia by depriving this country of its trading partners, and so isolating Russia diplomatically.
Orange revolution strikes again. http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/126766HAHA.png

I just find the union angle interesting which is why I keep up to date with the long running mess, they really make the Teamsters look like girl scouts.
Plus of course one of the previous episodes caused Colin Powell to make a complete dick of himself, so it's only a matter of time before Kerry follows in his footsteps

The funny thing there is that it is the elitists that lost the elections and it's they who have been causing trouble ever since.

Totally unrelated:
Venezuela's slightly left government head Maduro expels three US embassadors, accusing them of conspiring against his government.
Who would have thunk.

I'd be interested in Sean Penn's view of the current situation. So far, nothing. In fairness, he has been busy partying with his new girlfriend.
