Deck gun empty

How come my deck gun is empty when I start my patrol. Doesn't it reload when in port ?

It's a bug. You have to click on the ammo icon when you have manned the gun and it will load the first shell. After that it auto-loads until all ammo is gone.

I think it has something to do with the fact that they removed the star shells or something to that effect.

Open your basic.cfg and search for [AMMO_TYPE0] and [AMMO_TYPE1]. In the lines below those headlines you find the ammo-types with the number of shells given to them.
