Hello everyone!:salute:
I haven't played any silent hunter game in a very long time:88) and now i am back. To many stupid games out there and you always end up going back to the classics. I was thinking it would be a a nice change of pace going from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Total War series to a subsim. I must confess that watching Run Silent Run Deep again, made me nostalgic for some subsim action. I would like to start with SH4 and TMO as i never finished the US campaign. Please recommend a list of compatible mods for the year 2014. The longer the better.

So, you have SH4 v.1.5 that includes U-Boats plus more improvements to the US boats from ver 1.4.

If you haven't done so and you have a fairly modern computer with lots of memory, even a Win 7 64 bit with 4 gigs of memory or more, I recommend installing Large Address Aware to allow sh4.exe to access more memory:

You say you want TMO, so TMO 2.5 is what you should look for.
There is a mall patch that goes on top of TMO 2.5 called:

Don't forget Real Fleet Boat, you seem interested in TMO though.

Lot of people like the RSRD campaign....

Also, for variety, instead of RSRD, there is a wonderful and well researched off-site campaign called the "Guerrilla Submarines Spyron Mod" - all historically accurate missions that took place in real life:

You'll probably get more mod ideas from others.

If you wanted multiple installs with different mods on each, Multi-SH4 is the solution and has instructions.

I agree with Aanker, you should go with T.M.O. 2.5 &RSRDC. I would also suggest O.T.C 1.5 to go along with those 2 Mods:hmmm:

I think i should ask some questions in TMO section as i plan to go with it. RFB it appear has not been updated like TMO has. Perhaps these 2 mod should be merged into one, you know concentrating the best.

RFB and TMO are incompatible with each other. They are both base mega mods. Many of the same files have been changed and they will interfere with the operation of each.

I would never want to step on the toes of the 'RFB team' or TMO by Ducimus et all.

Minor alterations are always possible to do but each mod 'team' spent hundreds of hours to achieve their end result the way they envisioned it. Both mega-mods had different objectives and files were adjusted and created accordingly.

I understand what you are saying and there is nothing stopping anyone from making their own mod, however I don't think it is even feasible to merge, say, 'Cheerios' & 'Wheaties'.... that is how different TMO and RFB are from what I see.

Variety is the spice of life! .... right?

I roamed the forum and downloaded some mods. Here is the list i got so far:

It doesn't work that way or merging the best of both mods as that is subject to opinion of what you think is best. What people do is make smaller mods that work with each, but still up to you to decide if you like that feature...Simply, there's no best, just your preferences...and they vary from person to person...
