Hey Guys,

I would like to use voice control to play SH5. I was wondering if there is a comprehensive commands list (SH5) that I could use to create a profile with my voice command software. I believe playing SH5 using voice control is a more immersive way to play.

I presently use voice control to play BMS Falcon. The only key use is the "G" for landing gear. Using voice command is a sure way to reduce the number of keys or clicking one has to do.

Any help is appreciated.

In the mod “Speech Recognitions_Miltons_NewUI_Edition_V04.1_English” When you open the “Documentation” folder there are English and German language alternatives.

There are PDF’s for both languages “Speech Recognition Customising Tutorial English” is one of them.

Basically you have a “Reference list” that is a pre-set list of crew orders that can be spoken immediately.

You also have the option to “Customise” this allows you to make up your own crew orders.

All is explained in the PDF’s.

“Speech Recognition” has got some inherent problems. According to my friend “Raven_2012” this mod has been around a while and seriously needs updating. I know he has his own agenda in relation to how this mod works for him.

I personally have problems with two,s. If I say “Set new course 2-7-0” It sets course 7-0. This is not helped by the fact that the order to change course does not appear in the message box and I have run aground on more than one occasion because I did not notice that my order had not been taken correctly.

It sometimes has a mind of it’s own and given an order it does not like something like “Standard Propulsion” followed by “Recharge Batteries” can cause a ctd.

Odd things happen like a torpedo will suddenly fire. I now push the mic well out of the way which to some extent defeats the objective.

So not perfect, but definitely a worthwhile mod warts and all.

THEBERBSTER,

Thanks for the reply. I presently use VAC for my voice control. The software is payware ($18) but works really well. The only thing I don't like is that is doesn't contain a PTT function. Other than that, it works great for me. What I was looking for is an extensive list of commands for SH5. For example Church's key commands (MOD) already incorporates other commands that are not available in the stock keyboard controls.

I can always create my own profile just like the ones I'm using right now with SH4 and SH5. My present profile is only limited to those keys that I see on the keyboard. However there a lot of other commands that could be integrated into the VAC profile that are associated with the game. If I knew which keys or combinations of keys that are used for the command, I can then create and customize a voice activated profile that will work.

My goal is to limit the number of keys that are pressed or icons you click.

Thanks again for the reply

Yes I now see what you mean.

You need to look at "Stormy's DBSM" mod. There is a good "Readme" that explains everything.

In “Subsim” “Search” put in “Stormy’s DBSM” you will find it towards the bottom of “Page 1” you will see “Stormy’s DBSM Collection SH5” all will be explained. It is in the "SH5 Workshop" category.

You will need the "German Language Pack" for this mod as it is a sound mod with it's own unique keyboard layout.

There is also “Advanced Shift Keys v2.3” in “Game Play Downloads” on “Page 4” last mod.

Would you let me know please if the microphone system you are using works with SH5?

If you are using TDW’s NEWUI in his “Options File Editor Viewer” There are many changes that can be used by setting up and customising your own “Hotkeys”

I would suggest that you have a look at the thread “Multiple UI’s for SH5 with TDC and Automation”.

Look at pages from 735 you will see there is a debate going on. Pay special attention to post #11046

THEBERBSTER,

Thanks for the info. I have downloaded the Stormy's DBSM mod. I already have incorporated some of those commands. Churche's key board commands incorporate the same commands already mapped. Once mapped to a keyboard it's ease to profile them since there is a key associated with command.

A far as a microphone, I use a Plantronics gaming head set with a noise cancelling microphone. The set is not very expensive. Its functional and works good. I also use it to play BMS Falcon. Make sure if you get one, that the ears cups are comfortable for long periods of use. Those headsets might be a little more pricey.

I'm trying to figure out how to add voice commands for setting the depth such as " set depth to 1-0-0 meters" etc. I just can find the keys associated with those type of commands. Another cool thing to be able to do is other commands such as "XO man the deck gun" etc. I'm going to look into that voice control program you mentioned to try it out. Another good program that works really good is KEYSPEECH, it incorporate a routine where you can train it to recognize your voice ($10 I think).

Thanks again for the info.

I have the "Roccat Kave" headset.

The reference chart shows you can use the following commands:

Set new to depth to xx meters.

New depth xx meters

Change depth to xx meters

Take us to xx meters

Set depth xx

"Man the deck gun" standard command

"Up scope" standard command

"Nav map" standard command

If you don't mind living with a leash, I find a $20 Radio Shack headset works just fine. But I also found that a $125 Logitech wireless headset with 7.1 surround sounds wonderful, but has such poor quality audio pickup that it is unusable for voice command with SH5.

Normally I use a Sony PS3 wireless headset. Sound reproduction is OK (just binaural stereo when used with a PC), but voice rec is excellent. And it was cheaper than the Logitech.

In this case, more money does not seem to guarantee better performance.

Hey guys,

I have downloaded Speech Recognitions_Miltons_NewUI_Edition_V04.1_English. I'm using NewUIs_TDC_7_4_2_ByTheDarkWraith in a window 7 OS.

I have been reading a lot of threads on this subject and found that the voice recognition mod has been installed at the end, three quarters of the way down the mod list etc.

I have installed mine at the end of the MEP list and tried to get it to work to no avail, maybe I'm doing something wrong.

My questions are:

1. Where on the MEP list do I install the mod? On the list, last, half way down, above or below NewUIs_TDC_7_4_2_ByTheDarkWraith? I just don't know. Maybe I have the wrong version of the associated TDC file installed (confused now).

2. How do I activate it to get it to work? I can't tell if it's activated or not.
I turned my Windows Voice recognition on, unless there another way to turn it on I just don't know what I'm looking for or what else to do.

Any help is appreciated.

Best Regards

Usually with “Sound” mods it does not matter where they are in the “mep” list.

I have mine in position 35 out of 57 mods. Although I could have put in at 57.

Did you right click and “Explore” before you enabled it.

The first folder in the mod is “Speech Recognition etc”

The Second Folder is “Mods”

The third folder is ”Speech Recognition etc”

This third folder is the one you need in “JSGME”

The fourth folder is the “Data” folder + “Documentation” folder + 2 other files.

If you have correctly enabled the mod.

Go to your “Mods” folder.

Right click on the “Speech mod”.

You can test your headset out by using the “Application” “ShSpeechEngineTest”
