I've had my fill of snow for the year. 7 inches was enough thank you. Thankfully it rained and it is all gone now.

Just 15 miles South of Greensboro, and daring it to snow. Not really. I do have a snow shovel I bought several years ago and have never used. Now may be the time.

Edit: Now it's Thursday and snow storm is about over. Went out to shovel snow/ice with new shovel. Quit after only 10 minutes when 'new' shovel broke. Chinese plastic. Can't fix it. Can't return it. Can stay inside and play games on the PC until Spring.

Yeah, if it would stop snowing and screwing with the Jet Stream, thus putting most of South-West England under water and giving us hurricane force winds, that'd be great...

Busy with FEMA today...generators, water, MRE. Sadly, this storm was called into play a week ago. Today was the day the big switch was hit to start moving supplies. This should have been done 2 days ago.

Half of the snow melted already. After a week it fell under a meter in 4 days.
And now half the country is flooded.

And a thanks to all the Yenks here. The US army donated 10 heavy duty generators to our civil defence. They'll be needed

I don't know about the rest of the East Coast, but in my neighbourhood it is guaranteed that we will get no snow.

Data points

1. Earlier this week, I pulled out my snow blower and found it dead. Weather forecast changes to heavy snow. Makes sense with my luck.

2. The last time I bought a snow blower, we did not have snow for the following three winters.

3. Last night, I purchased a new snow blower. After spending all that money, there is no way it will snow!

Coincidence?
Or just my usual bad luck? :D

I can influence the weather!

Just started snowing here in northern Delaware. We're supposed to get up to 10"s where I am..... about a mile from the I-95 corridor that the weather guys are talking about.

And here's how I'll take care of that white stuff, as it's all ready to go.

How do you like those chains?

GT182
02-12-14, 08:50 PM
I love em. They're the lug chains I bought back in 1992 and still have some life left in them. Only bad thing is that they're hard on the driveway..... especially cement. Not all that good for the blacktop driveways either.

Before I bought the 50" snowblower in '97 I had to push snow with the landscape blade. Without these chains and extra weight I couldn't have done it. Especially when the the driveway was ice covered under the snow. For 75.00 they were a very good investment, as were the Farmal A model front wheel weights.

It's the same as eating dirt so I never did it as a kid.
Without a speck of dirt or other microscopic matter, water won't freeze into the crystalline lattice that creates snow and ice.
Oddly enough, most of the dirt is actually micro-meteorites as well as dust blown into the atmo by wind. The rest is microorganisms.

Then I discover that the blower motor in the heater had given up the ghost and I can't go anywhere with a foggy windshield.:wah: A blizzard of expletives soon followed.:haha: So, I spend the rest of the day carving a path for my stepsons' car, cleaned two feet of snow off his buggy and went grocery shopping. I fell into bed last night totally spent with my left wrist aching like the dickens. I broke that one during my teen years and now it comes back to haunt me.:-?

When we get up in years that is when we pay dearly for our folly in our junior years. My left knee lets me know when it is going to rain, big time, to the point where it wont support my weight and will give out. So I can feel your pain and there is nothing we can do for it unless we want to be all goobered up and I wont do that. (Did more than my share when I was younger).

We are getting the snow that was forecast yesterday for today. I will no longer use Environment Canada for a weather forecast, they suck. I used Intellicast yesterday and they were right on the money. It looks real pretty out there right now. All white on the ground and all the little brown piles the dog leaves around covered up. I will go out and blow in a couple of hours, the brown will get 'relocated' into the bush and the snow scraped down to the ice underneath.
