View Full Version : Australia takes on South Africa
1st test staring shortly. Should be interesting to see how well we can do against the world number one after our thrashing of the Poms.
Proteas have won the toss and are going to bowl.
C'mon Aussies

Don't think the cons will win against the Africans. All though it will be a bit closer than the humiliation that happened to England
Oh and TarJak my county Yorkshire have sighed Aaron Finch

Yorkshire might score some runs this season then :O:
2-69. The usual top order shambles. Hope Clarke and Haddins form can continue from the Ashes.

I stand corrected. Did you ever find your carkeys? TV remote? Hopefully, you washed your hands when you were done with your quest/adventure.
Ha bloody har...rather stick my head up an elephants bottom :) Well that's your choice mate. Whatever floats your boat.:D
4-297 at stumps.not a bad day with the bat after all. :smug: Still tomorrow's another day. We'll need to pile on some runs to set SA a big target then hook in with some wickets.

Only in GT could Tarjak start a cricket thread and it morphs into Jim being stuck up an elephant's stern tube.:Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:

Wouldn't be called GT otherwise :know:
Australia all done for 397. Not too bad but could have at least gotten to 400. Nice start with the bowling though with SA 4-64. Hope they can go on with it and clean them up like the poms.
Woke up to see SA struggling at 6-140. Johnson has continued his great form abd ended the day with 4-51. Nice days cricket.

So what happens when Australia gets the cricket ring of power, what then?
About the same as your winner of the World Series except on a more truly global scale. :D
All done for 206.
7-68 for Johnson! Great bowling!

ZA will be lucky to win anything in the next 1000 years.
As darkness decends.. they're a spent force.... although you'll find it's true talents playing under different flags :D
I reserve the right to amend this statement after May 2014.. :)

I know that. but given Tandulkar's retirement I'm not seeing India as dominant as they have been recently.

I wouldn't write them off too easily. I'm pleased but very surprised that we've had as easy a time this test. Particularly at Centurion.:sunny:

You know, you guys (Oz) could annex Middle Earth to the east of you. I hear they have no navy. If you got some hobbits on your team, you could maybe get the ring of power from the Indians.
There be hobbits.
That is, if the Pomms haven't thought of that idea first.:hmmm::Kaleun_Binocular:

SA 1-6 chasing 482 for a very unlikely victory with almost two full days to play. Johnsauron knocks off his 250th wicket.
3-65 at lunch. Keep the pressure on Aus!

I was interested in this thread up until I saw Jim stuck in that sticky wicket.
AKA: Pachyderm alimentary canal estuary. Rough game, Quidditch.
Next time, try a broom, Jim and you won't get shoved up an olyphant's arse by the quafel.
PS: Steer clear of the molasses.
2nd Test underway with SA batting first and finishing the day at 5-215 before bad light stopped play.
Should be a tighter contest this time around.

They're not called 'chokers' for nothing.. :)
SA not choking right now. ZAussies looking a bit frail with both ball and bat this test.

OK cheers Jim
Australia won the toss and are 2-138 after lunch. Warner looking like he's headed for another ton on 81 from 84 balls.
Great ton off 104 balls by Warner! Well played sir.:woot:
3-331 not a bad start. Clarke looking comfortable and Smith played very well for his 50. Time to pile on the runs and then get stuck in with the bowling.

I'll never understand all the fuss over what is basically an elaborate game of 'catch'.:hmmm:
4-434 at lunch on day two with Clarke still batting on 137. Reckon a declaration at around 500 is on the cards then into them after tea.
7-497 declared on the morning of day 3.
SA collapse to 4-127 before lunch. Looking good!
SA all done for 287. Nice work by the bowlers.
SA now 3-15!!! cashing down a gap of 511 set my Australia! Go you good thing!
The test and series is ours. Well played Australia.
The series win takes Australia up to second in the ICC's world Test rankings, above India and England, but still below South Africa.
Not good enough, bribe the ICC and your be No.1 in the world. :03:

I'm not a 'team' sports fan... I prefer individualistic sports where personal achievements are greater than the whole... IOW sports people who are able to work and think for themselves, to win.
I see the Saffa's 'choked' at the winning post !!
