Well, I wanted to reinstall SH3 and GWX 3 again as I have before and ran into this error message when I attempted to install the 1.4 patch .....now I am stuck and have no fix idea......can anyone help me ? thanks Midat

How old is your copy of the game? If it's 2008 or newer it is already patched, and cannot read the new patch.

Hi Steve, it's old.....2005 maybe.....I have reinstalled and patched before with no problems, at all, until this time of course. I tried it with adobe 7 and without with no change. I have adobe 12 also, but that has been there all along .

What does Adobe have to do with this?

To find the version of the game, locate SH3.exe in the game installation folder. Right click on it, and select propperties (or via the File menu). Then on the details tab the file version should be shown. If it is 1.4.0.1 then you are ready to play the game as stock, or install GWX or whatever mod.

Pisces, Steve, Adobe has nothing to do with it as it happens, just thought it might since I had no clue about any of it and it was a txt file.....But I reinstalled in a different directory and wha'd ya know , it works...got the clue from another thread. It is so true that this game forum has a bunch of good guys participating with and helping those of us that "haven't got a clue" enjoy this game. Thanks, I need the help and you guys are there in a flash every time.
