Hey guys, per advise to install mods, I uninstalled the Steam version of SH 5, and ordered the SH5 DVD off of amazon. After installing SH5, when UPlay activates, it defaults to making me reinstall the Steam version again.
What should I do?

I think that there are still leftover files in your My Documents folder. the saved stuff from one "Steam" version probably won't load into a DVD version. Also,
UPlay is who is 'loading' your game for you, not steam.
I'd check that your old version is not still on your hard disk too. Sometimes uninstalling doesn't remove all the files.
Get rid of the My Docs SH5 stuff and check the steam folders to be sure any reference to SH5 is also gone.
Good luck.

I did the same thing you did, I got another game copy from Amazon download and unistalled the Steam one. You have to go in Ubisoft and activate new SH5. Once you do that there will be two SH5, the one you click on that won't install Steam version of the game is the correct version.
One version well still be the Steam version and other Amazon, they are binded by the Key code and not what is installed on your HD.
:arrgh!:
Edit: Make sure you clean your registry of the Steam version of the game. If not it might make a major mod act a little weird. I cleaned mine, but Steam still has some stuff linked to it I can't get.
