Hi guys. Just finished a 38k patrol in 1939.
Ships were marked as sunk in the captain's log and in the SH3 "update your file" but were nowhere to be seen in the patrol summary (after docking) and renown from patrol was zero.
Any ideas ?

Is this the very first patrol? And did you change anything to the loadout, including crew changes? If so, then there might be your answer: don't change anything prior to the first patrol. There seems to be a bug affecting paying out renown.

Stupid question, but you did wait until war was declared in September 1939, right?

With GWX you start in August 1939 and there are no enemies to sink yet.

You could always calculate the renown "owed" and give it to yourself. If you open the patrol
_o.cfg file using notepad and edit the line deltarenown=(choose a figure) you will have that amount of renown when you restart. The file is found in the sh3 folder in my documents. Search renown cheat for more details. Ensure that u are in base before trying it though.

It was ironic.
It was not the case. Mercy.

There are two clues in GWX that you might be about to embarrass your employers:

If using 'weapons officer assistance', get him to recommend your chosen target before firing. If he replies 'Cannot recommend target' then something needs to be double-checked.

The other, sure-fire, way to know you have torpedoed something you shouldn't is to listen to the crew's response. If they don't cheer the hit or sinking :nope:, you need to start thinking of excuses to tell Doenitz.

There is a list kindly provided by the developers of GWX giving the start of hostilities for every nation you might encounter at sea during the war. Press F1 while in-mission and have a look.:know:

I recently had a captain dismissed for completing three unsuccessful patrols (one of them pre-war). Got back to port and the sim wouldn't allow him access to the boat or crew management screens. At least you sank something.

Another clue is that time compression won't go very high if enemies are nearby.

But it sounds like attacking friendlies was not the OP's problem.

Ive had that happen sometimes throughout the war, I'll have a great patrol and 0 renown payout, usually if I go back to an earlier save and then complete the patrol it pays out then
