:arrgh!:Hi guys,

After almost 2 years absence, the Sub bug found me again.

It startet with the re-release soon of an very succesful Uboat wargame;

The Hunters.

(I know, not everybodys thing but in the times before computergames this was THE Thing to get you near a Sub...best graphics are in the mind)

Check this Review:

If you really would like to give it a try, theres a real cheap pre-order possibility here:

http://www.gmtgames.com/p-471-the-hunters-2nd-printing.aspx

Based on an solitaire game called "B17 Queen of the Skies" from the eighties, it attempts to expand on possible decision making providing for a cool narrative....

Inclusive of type IXs , exclusive of CTDs...

Cheers, Trebb.

NB. Posted this in SH3\4\5 General discussion, hope nobody minds...

I got in on the first pre-order. Now they are going to reprint.

This is a great little, short boardgame type. I actually haven't punched any 'units' or markers. I just keep a log on paper of what is going on.

I also wrote two variant add-on rules, available on the boardgamegeeks.com game page.

I'm going to use this game in my solo WW2 game to play out the sub missions for the current game turn. One sub results will represent a flotilla results. See my site in my sig. I'm not going to live long enough to play out the whole war...but I'm having a ball anyway.

I recommend "The Hunters" for subsim folks. It's a good un.

The is also one called U-boat Leader that has been around since 2011, but I think The Hunters: German U-Boats at War, 1939-43 looks much better.

U-boat Leader is more about controlling the whole u-boat arm.

I have that one:sunny:, I just need to get off my duff and finish learning how to play it. Yes, it is more of a strategic game.

Ordered this game a few weeks ago from GMT games. I lucked out and got it before it went out of stock. I've been playing it now for about a week and I really enjoy it. Haven't played an old fashioned board/war game for sometime and I thought this would be a great way to get back into the hobby. I was pleasantly surprised. The rules aren't that difficult, and Consimpress who created the game has really good video tutorials on YouTube that help to explain setup and play. I highly recommend it.

Good to hear that Finron,

I opted out of the original release (you can always do that until game release if you have second thoughts) because Bloody April 1917 seemed a better option. (and it is a great one too).

When I read all the good reviews I became interested again, but at the later release price $40 I might have to pay darn EU import taxes on top of overseas shipping...

With the P500 price of just $28 its shipping only, making it much more affordable.

Ofcourse, them North Americans will pay a modest amound for shipping only...

I am returning to some old hobbies too, recently starting on a kit, and now boardgaming...

Cheers, Trebb.
