I used to have a copy of Woody Guthrie's autobiography, Bound For Glory. Woody's good friend Pete Seeger wrote the introduction, which was as much fun as the book itself. I still remember others' covers of his more famous songs, Peter, Paul & Mary singing 'Where Have All the Flowers Gone?' and Trini Lopez's big hit with 'If I Had a Hammer'.

He had a good long run, and won't be forgotten anytime soon.

RIP Pete, i listened to you so often back then.

He also sang the german "Die Gedanken sind frei".
I am sure he was also on the CIA's black list because of his 'leftist' songs.

@Catfish the FBI is responsible for internal intelligence so Pete Seeger was on Hoover's blacklist for his leftist songs.

Nah they declare anyone who speaks the truth an enemy of the state, because mostly the truth is about uncovering lies.

Funny that just of all in a land where freedom ach blah i'm tired, better live on with your lies.

When I was in elementary school they taught us to sing Woody Guthrie's 'This Land is Your Land'...sort of. They seemed to have forgotten the verses about labor unions, Communism and protesting. :dead:
