Not long back from Teesside Airport where I visited Sycamore Aviation to see the two Ukranian ATR-42 aircraft they are decommissioning.
Whilst there we also visited The Great North Air Ambulance a viewed a couple of FRADU Falcon aircraft.
Weather was wet and dull but you can't have everything I suppose.
Pictures to follow...

Neat little aircraft. Visually, at least!:03:
I see them on a regular basis due to the Aer Lingus Regional (Aer Arann) flights that fly into Aberdeen Dyce. Makes a nice change from the usual procession of Airbus', Embraers, Jetstreams, SAABs and Bombardiers. Oh, and the occasional 737.
Mike.

You better pick the 'right 6 numbers'. They are expensive to own and maintain. AV gas is NOT cheap, but then again regular gas isn't cheap over there either.

Our guide owned one of them and he said it took £10k for insurance and maintenance per year before they even left the ground.

Ya, and don't forget the inspections based on the flight hours. :wah:

Rgr that but more worrying was the fact more and more aircraft are being registered and insured in former eastern bloc countries to save on premiums.

Or to duck the inspections. NOT good for those on the ground.

'Park with brakes off' - they missed the bit where it says park closest to the doors. If there is a fire they can push them out, but I wouldn't want mine parked at the back!

Yes, most worrying.

There were doors at back and front so I guess the middle area is the most threatened :)

I see you've upgraded your aeroplane collection. Too big for your flat? ...and does the wife know about them?:03:

She'll know soon enough when I land that chopper on the rear lawn :)

TwinStar :rock::rock:
Now that's a nice aeroplane to fly. First time can be a bit scary, since it's made of carbon fibre. I banked a little too steeply after takeoff because the controls are much lighter than what I'm used to, and seeing the wings flex allll the way up and down was unnerving :D

I was a little surprised to see how much room there was inside considering she's a four seater.

Thought I'd responded to this already but must've been mistaken.
FRA (Cobham - same thing) they're out flying erratic (or so it seems!) flight patterns over the North Sea between me and you almost daily.
Don't know whether these ones are the ECM ones or flight inspection. :hmmm:

ECM...they were fitted with jamming pods on the port wing.

For the flight inspection jobs they have a lot of ancillary equipment to check radar and radio stuff (yes, I am aware of what the 'ra' in radio stands for), didn't know for sure which was which.

Yeah they're nice and roomy. Early models have twin diesels too, something different!

What surprised me was the fact they have a kevlar skin at the back and tail to protect from stray bullets when they are on tug duties.
The guide has my email addy and promised to try and get me on a flight some time in the future but I'm not holding my breath.
