For some reason whenever I install Commander I can't start a patrol unless it's in August of 39. I'm using the GWX 3 mod and I did install the required files to make Commander work. It works just fine when i'm not using commander and Commander works fine WITH mods if i'm running stock SH3.

I don't have SH3 set up right now, so I can't check it, but I believe you have to specify the month and year in Commander then do it again in SH3 as well, and they need to match.
If you've already done that then I don't have any more ideas. Sorry. :sunny:

I always do.

Do you have the alternative flotillas mod enabled?
I also agree with Steve but the game should automatically match your selected parameters.

Nope. It's pure GWX 3.

Giving this a little bump as I want to know if anyone has had this issue before and if it can be fixed. It's not really that big of a deal to me other then losing the ability to choose which month and U-Boat you can start with.

Do you want to go on a sightseeing tour? Don't know if your Commander permits to sail off for a beach party in the Caribbean pre summer '39.

Nope. It's pure GWX 3.
Then if your sure you've installed the GWX SH3Commander cfg file all that can be left is a corrupt installation imho.
You are using the latest version of Commander I presume.

In the stock game I don't think you can start a new career after 1943, and I don't think Commander was designed to fix that.
I could be misremembering though.

I have a similar problem. I am running a fresh install of SHIII/GWX on OS W indows 8. I have no mods activated. I loaded the current SHIII. Commander with the GWX patch. Prior to using SHIII Commander I ran a patrol to get the SHIII file into my documents.
When I was ready to start a new career I went to SHIII Commander. It looked fine and ready to go I entered dates U-Boot number and other options. I then started GWX from SHIII Commander. GWX loaded fine with my new Kapitan, date and U-Boot number. I then started my new career. The red load Barr got within 1/2 inch of finish and crashed. I then started a patrol without SHIII Comander and had no crash.
Any Ideas?

Yeah it's been awhile but thought i'd give an update. Turns out the problem wasn't with SH3 Commander. Seems that I couldn't start past September no matter what and that includes stock. I'm thinking that when I downloaded the game something might not have come down the pipe with it and that's what caused it. I'm redownloading it from Amazon at night since that's when my internet works the best. I'll let you guys know if it's fixed once I try it.

IT WORKED!!!! I can start at a point after September!!!
Edit: So GWX still won't work after September which sucks. I think I might have to redownload that as well.
Just to make sure you are doing it right, you place those config files for SH3 Commander in the folder of Commander, NOT in the SH3-installfolder itself.

Well after getting frustrated with GWX not wanting to work beyond September of 39 I took a bit of a break from trying to fix this. Fast forward to about half an hour ago when I downloaded a mod for Civ 4 BTS and it wouldn't work I decided to check something. I wanted to see if the Civ 4 folder had all the security permissions checked to yes and lo and behold it didn't, so I checked them to yes and the mod worked. That suddenly got me thinking, "What if I move my SH3 folder to the X86 and then make sure all the security permissions were checked to yes. Would GWX finally work after the month of September was over"? Well I did just that and guess what? IT FINALLY WORKS!!!!!! :Kaleun_Party::Kaleun_Party::Kaleun_Party: Now all that's left is to download the GWX3 files for SH3 commander, do the same thing to its folder and see if that also works. I'll post and update on whether it does or doesn't.

Ok I found some more problems and maybe a solution to said problems. So the fix didn't work for SH3 Commander and what's worse even after I uninstalled it the game wouldn't work if I started beyond September of 39. So I did something I never thought of doing until going over the folder details. I ran the thing in compatibility mode and that fixed it. If this fixes SH3 Commander as well i'm going to go bang my head against a brick wall.

That fixed it. This whole time the problem was my computer was too good.:damn::damn::damn::damn: Take notice folks. Sometimes compatibility mode is all it takes to solve your problems.

YAY!
Glad it's working for you. Now you get to discover the real fun.
Since you're using Commander might I be so conceited as to suggest this?

No you are not. I've still got a problem with JGSME not working for some reason but after all the time i've spent trying to get this to work i'll deal with no mods other then GWX3. If I really want a particular mod i'll just manually add it by overwriting the files.(But not before backing them up first.)

One last update. I got the mods working. Turns out all I needed to do was give JGSME admin control. So I now have a SH3, SH4 and SH5 all working on my computer. Life is sweet.:)

Sure is. I've got a choice of playing what many consider the best in the series, messing about with fleet boats or going for the graphical beauty. What more could I want?

My Ship Names mod doesn't use JSGME, and it doesn't go into GWX or SH3. It is placed manually into the SH3 Commander/CFG folder, replacing the old Ship Names file. All it does is add 13,000 new names to the list of names Commander gives when you sink a ship. :sunny:

Ah yes the Type XXIII AKA the "Two strikes and you're out" boats. I'll give it a try after I get used to playing SH3. Oh and Steve I did read the readme to your mod. I was just stating that until I got JGSME working i'd have to do without mods that require it. I did eventually get it working My computer decided to tick off the "run as an administrator" box even though I had it checked. :/\\!!

So i started a career with SH3 comander and its currently late november of 39 but the news still talks about the orders given in august of 39.. i created a fake carrier with the start date set to november 39 so i can see whats going on in the war when im on the loading screen to start a patrol but is there an easier way to do this??
If I remember correctly there is a bug with reloading savegames that messages received earlier in the patrol re-appear as new again. I'm not sure if there ever was a fix for that. I guess you will just have to acknowledge them for a while.
