Hmmm, trial by media and politicians is it an election year?.

Some of these people are gaming the system while others are deemed guilty because they have unknowingly used a crooked attorney recommended by co-workers.

Social Security Disability isn't a stipend that's easy to come by.

If healthy people are getting it, they not only had a crooked attorney but a crooked doctor too.
Also, what were they doing for money during the mandatory two year waiting period?
The wife and I were living on a credit card, her slave wage job and the system that buries your dignity. "Welfare":nope:
I sincerely hope they throw the book at these people. Especially the former police officers who should know better.

To get a disability pension, in my system, it takes at least two doctors and approval from the pension board. This is the normal way of doing it. Those who have cheated the system must have had some excellent coaching.
Many pension systems throughout the US are in financial trouble because the employers failed to pay their share into them for decades. Pensions right now can't afford someone cheating it.
There is a tight brotherhood in police and fire. We do watch each other's backs, do just about anything for each other, etc. Cheating a pension is breaking the trust of the brotherhood. It not only makes us all look bad, but it steals out of our pockets. This is money that is earned by working, not a government giveaway program.
We need to let the courts do what they need to do. If they are guilty, then they need to get the most appropriate consequences allowable.

We need Wernher on this. I'm sure he'll let us know how he feels.

I wonder what Wernher is up to. I kind of miss his counsel. And poor old Armistead just keeps pining for him.:03:

When you say government giveaway program, are you referring to Social Security? I paid into that my entire working career, so I don't see it as a give away. More like a give it back.:yep:

Not Social Security, it is a pension that is earned. I mean things like welfare that people don't work for. (Let's not start a discussion here, I'm just using it as an example)
