SH3 campaign won't load

Hi guys.

I recently returned to the tension machine that is SH3 after a break of some 5 years.

My gaming PC has recently died so I have installed (via steam) on my back up laptop.

The problem is when I try to start the first patrol on the campaign it freezes when the loading bar is almost full. It isn't an issue with the gameplay as far as I can gather, I have run the training missions and they work fine.

I am on windows 7 and have tried all the fixes for that but nothing has worked so far.

If anyone has had this issue or has any help please post.

(If there is another post about this my bad but I had a good search and couldn't find anything)

What exactly do you mean by "freezes"? Freezes after how much loading. Does it Crash To Desktop? Does it give you a message of any kind?

The reason I ask is that if it seems to do nothing you might need to just wait awhile longer. The first patrol of a newly set-up game can take 15-20 minutes to load - sometimes more.

It froze on the loading bar, no error message just nothing. I remembered from last time I played it sometimes took a while so I went off and left it too be sure. Didn't load even after an hour.

I have now fixed it so heads up to anyone with the same problem, install the grey wolves mod, that fixed it for me.
