I have to say watching the footage of him "in action" at his school was pretty funny, funny bad. I especially love the bit where he enters a room completely incorrectly, turns around 180, and shoots the cardboard baddy behind him, while vocalizing what he was doing as instructions (which in reality would be a good way to get shot repeatedly in the back). His knife fighting skill is equally horrid.

I sort of feel bad for the people he defrauded, but they had to have been rather stupid to believe half of what he was saying, particularly as what he was saying doesn't make any sense when put together. But throw greed into it and people throw sense to the wind, which is exactly how con-artists operate. If it seems too good to be true, it probably isn't.

I see another mistake on his fake DD214 line number 19.That line is the person rank and grade at the start of their most recent enlistment period if they ever re-enlisted it say E-1 which is not possible because there is no 34 year long enlistment period they they range from 4 years to 6 years currently. Some branches offer a two year term or used to but the 4 and 6 year terms have been standard since at least the early 90's.

Another mistake is in section 22 he has 0 years of foreign service listed oops also 0 years sea service for most people in the Navy especially a SEAL is literally impossible. An E-9 SEAL ought to have a few thousand sea miles at least.

A third mistake is his last duty station it says Panama well the US military has not had a permanent base in Panama since 1999 yet he was discharged in 2009 so he some managed to stay in a none existent command for 10 years.

I love DD214s I have refused to hire people more than once because they lied to me and then where too stupid to realize that I can simply read their DD214.Best not make a bogus claim about your military service cause I'll ask for your DD214 I find out if you are lying to me.

He sounded like a fake right off the bat. "Serving from the jungles of vietnam to the caves of afghanistan"? Pablo escobar and osama bin laden? Really? He probably wouldve been better off being humble about it and not a showboat.

Anybody heard of the Stolen Valor law? :har:

I am just surprised that other Navy vets believed him at fist.If someone makes such claims and is trying to use these claims as part of a business deal I would bust of the fine toothed comb regardless.

Plenty of people are liars beyond the socially acceptable level white lie(how you feeling today you feel like crap but you say "just fine").

You'd be surprised, I knew an AO1 (E-6) that never saw a flight deck. :shifty:

The flying fur would be most entertaining.:haha:

Moron's pretending to be seals seems soo.... passe. Seriously, and when these guys do lie, they lie BIG.

My last year active when i had to go back to base maintenance, I had a GS-11 in my shop who swore up and down he was a Seal in vietnam. Complete with wall mounted BS you can buy at any surplus store. We all knew he was full of ****, but he tried so hard to convince us. I KNEW he was full of it when i was instructing a younger Airman on how to do something, and I busted out a big honking Naval equivalent to an AF CDC that I had gotten from the SeaBee's while in a few training courses with those guys. "Mr Seal" see's this, and all of a sudden he was in the Seabee's for a year. /facepalm

There have been so many of these clowns, and it's gotten so much publicity, that around fifteen years ago JAG had an episode about a guy running for congress who claimed to be Seal. Montel Williams did a good job as a real Seal who made it his task to expose the guy.

I would imagine that lying about being a SEAL is strategically a poor decision. SEALs know other SEALs. I would think there would be a real risk of some of the real SEALs, traveling to and .....discussing.... the issue with the SEAL imposter. :o

I know that nobody else parties like a SEAL....

I'm sure nobody else but the secret ones "discuss" like a SEAL.

I always enjoyed this quote.

"Only 500 SEALs served in Vietnam. And we've met all 20,000 of them."

--Steve Robinson, a former SEAL in Forsyth, Mo.

For a SEAL though it would be impossible to have zero foreign service and claim to have in several foreign actions and also for SEAL to have literally 0 sea years not even a few months at sea that is impossible.Somehow he missed every single bit of routine training that involved any form of infiltration by sea in which at some point said SEAL would have to be on a boat.

It is the context of what someone claims that is important an AO1 could work with the P-3 Orion and it would make perfect sense for that person have 0 sea miles.I have a friend that was supply in the Navy and he has no sea time either but for a SEAL to have no miles after 35 years that dog just dont hunt.

Just like the Iranian Embassy siege in 1980 - around 30 SAS guys there and I must've met about or heard from 100 of them, some must have been barely in their teens at the time. I reckon about a quarter of the British Army over the last 30 years were there. :yep:

Unfortunately, 30 is now about a quarter of the army strength. :-?

Yeah never thought of that he has no sea years because of course he swam everywhere himself he never had to ride on a USN vessel. His foreign service years are 0 because he is so awesome he is a citizen of every nation even ones that do not yet exist.

The reason he left the Navy? He is such a powerhouse and is so deadly they had to write new articles in both the Geneva and Hague Conventions that expressly banned him.

Most SEALs are members of a SEAL Team he was of course a one man unit so they just called him SEAL Number 1.

Probably, I'm sure Segal in his horrid movies when he was playing a SEAL modeled himself after this guy. It would explain a lot. I mean they both have the same level of combat skill.

Also he quit the SEALs because the CIA told him that Team America need him, as only he could make the US safe from the world, FOREVER!

Cause I had to edit my post and put a link in, as no one seemed to know what I was talking about, even though the story was on the main page. So naturally I had to tease them about it.

Just stumbled across the 20\20 vid and saw this post here at subsim.

Was glad to see that it was Shipley who busted him.

That guy needs to be prosecuted for not only his scams but his use of the US armed forces for personal profit. Wasn't too bright though. It's not like there are 20,000 Navy Seals. What an idiot.

We call them recces over here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_African_Special_Forces You could spot them a mile away.. maybe the public is generally stupid. My elder second cousin was one, he was my Matric maths teacher as well as my Applied Maths lecturer (Professor) at Uni, sometime later. I always knew something wasn't right with him.. and we had a long chat at uni one day... I think that made a difference for him. I still respect his vow of silence ??
