Hello all! I'm an old sub simmer, finally decided to pull the trigger on SH5 as it looks like the mods have finally polished the initial product into the shiny pearl that we can all be proud of! Thank you all so much for what is obviously a labor of love, for turning a jumbled miasma of base code into a fine piece of software. And it's not like there's plenty of options for a sub simmer out there. SH3 and SH5 are pretty much the only game in town if you want to get your Battle of the Atlantic freak on. And you guys have made it AWESOME. Okay, I've wanted to get that off my chest for a long time now. Thank you.

Ive done some searching, lots of experimenting and am now at the point where Im just gonna break down and ask. Stock SH5 is not even an option for me. There are several mods that are, simply, must haves, such as OH2 and Id love to use DarkWraiths UI mod. My problem is, and I hate to even admit this, but I need some kind of easy TDC thing. I dont want to plot my own TDC stuff. There, I said it.

The stock, with the connect the numbers thing was fine, and Ive been playing SH3 for years letting my "first officer" do the calculus and geometry. I know I have the TDC off in DarkWraiths, minimal dials, no dials... I have to ask if Im missing something because this is like the last piece of my mod soup puzzle. I cannot accurately hit anything with torpedoes. Is there another UI mod that would be more suited to my... Ahem... style?

Ive spent hours and hours plugging this in, that in, and Im just ready to play this game, but I just cant do it without some combination of MUST HAVE mods.

Anyway, any help is appreciated and, in any case, Thank YOU for bringing me many many hours of Atlantic and Pacific sub simming.

Edit: Well, Dummy me, I meant to put this in the MOD Workshop area. Sorry.

Hi and Thanks!

So I guess what Im trying to ask is, how do I get an easy, auto plotted TDC using DarkWraiths UI mod? Ive got all the mods I want, everything loads and looks fine. Ive seen pretty much the exact question asked elsewhere before but I cant find it now. There was no answer there either to the same question so I suppose there is no option for stock auto TDC plotting or a simple equivalent.

Okay, then. Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated, and, thank you again.

Am I right in thinking from your posting that you have been playing with TDW’s UI but it is not doing what you want it to do?.

I am a little confused as to whether you want to play with Auto TDC, Manual TDC or the option of both. If you just want Auto TDC then untick the Manual Targeting box in the Game Play Options screen. The XO will still give you the option to turn the TDC either On or Off.

I do not know which UI version you are using but I would recommend TDW 7_4_2 New UI as a good base platform and is not difficult to set up especially as you only need to use the 3rd one of the 13 folders in the mod if you want to keep everything simple.

Have you seen in TDW's Navigation Map and TAI Map more further game play options that you can turn on and off.

One essential thing is that you will need is his TDW Generic File Patcher as it contains the Torpedo Patches. If you have been playing the game without the patches enabled then you will get problems. Likewise if you have given your Torpedo man points then again this will corrupt your targeting.

There is also TDW’s Option File Editor to think about that can be enabled from within his base mod.

The other thing to think about when you go to choose your Campaign there are different levels of difficulty to choose from. Also in the Options menu you can customise the Game Play settings to suit your playing level.

OHII is a must and has just been recently updated from V2.2 to V2.3 and also needs the v2.3 patch to go with it.

Over the past year I have played with several different UI’s, thinking at the time that TDW’s was too complicated for me, but I was wrong and in my opinion gives the best gaming experience.

Try not to go overboard with your mod soup while you are feeling your way 10 to 20 should be more than enough to start with at this stage. Once you have got your game working to your liking it is easy to add more.

I would like to try and help you as best I can so maybe you could give me a little more information and background to where you are with your game at the moment.
