Hi everyone,

I have had to purchase a new computer! Will SH4 run on Win7 as a stand alone and will it run with either TMU or Fleet boat added? I am panicking a bit as my old computer has completely died and I have no choice but get another.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Merry Christmas and happy new year to you all.

Short answer - Yes!

Longer answer - i have SH4 with Uboatmissions (1.5), and then added OM,TMO and RFB seperately (depending on what mood i'm in) at different times over the last couple of years and all work fine.

I'm using Win7 x64 Home premium.

Hope this helps

Yes, have a look at this for installation tips. It's for Vista but applies to 7 as well.

actually no it doesn't, while it "can" work either way, vista is a special case and you must install vista a certain way for it to work correctly.

for any operating system other then vistayou need to just let it install normally as it wants to

see here for correct install instructions: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=150997

I have heard a few comments of some issues with the game not running correctly with the new windows 8 but I think its just some driver or update issues and not the operating system having issues

SH4 runs great on win7, you won't even need a compatibility mode change, and the super mods are great as well. Now get out there and sink some tonnage, skipper!

Just do not let the game install in the default Program Files folder, but give it a folder path that is not in there. This makes future modding, and playing the game, so much more reliable.
