Hi All

Any way to manually control you RPM's using the engine dials, I used to be able to ages ago but that was a few installs ago and can't remember if I had a mod that made it possible.

I'm currently using GWX3 with the steibler patch.

I currently use GWX3 and I have never seen an RPM indicator that you can control. I usually just use the knot indicator to fine tune my cruise speed so that I get maximum fuel efficiency. Tell me about this Stiebler patch?

Correct, setting speed in alternate dial to 1 knots gives 50 rpm.

Yebbut, that's bass-ackward. You want to set rpm to get a desired speed (and AFAIK you can't). And the rpm vs speed correlation differs for diesel and electric propulsion.

Thanks Pabbi! I'm thinking about doing a clean install of SH3 and playing LSH3 V5.1 Could anybody give me some feedback on this?

LSH v5.1 is three years old. But v6 is expected "soon". Was supposed to be released this month, but software has this way of trashing the developers' best plans. You might want to wait until the new version comes out. Check the stickied post in the SH3 Mod Forum to monitor the dev team's progress.

The 80-80 Rule of software development: The first 80% of the project will be completed in the first 80% of the scheduled time. The remaining 20% of the project will be completed in the remaining 80% of the scheduled time. (No reflection on the devs. Has been true since Ada Lovelace.)

Well then, what mod would you suggest? I'm trying out NYGM, though it is very realistic, it seems as if some engine sound files are corrupt. The engine sounds come and go, and the response to orders seems a bit delayed. To me NYGM looks like stock with a little better realism, but seems to be broken in some areas of development.

I was happy with GWX3, but what got old there was the incessant barrage of radio traffic. That is not realistic. There were only 75 total messages sent to U-boats from BdU during the duration of the war. These were only to notify about ports opening or closing, supply ships and locations/times, and if a major operation was underway and that was it! I really don't think they were sitting out there telling each other their life stories over the enigma machine.

With that, I suppose I'll just start downloading super mods and ala carte items through JSGME until I find what I like?
