Back in November, a skydiving operation suffered a mid-air collision. there were 9 people (skydivers and pilots) combined aboard the two flights. The plan was a "formation skydive" which required the divers to jump from the aircraft in formation flight, join up with one another and free fall in a pattern formation.
As skydivers ambled out onto the wing strut and step, the two aircraft in close formation crept ever closer to one another and in an instant, they collided sending a swirling mass of metal, flesh and a cloud of burning avgas tumbling through the air.
5 of the skydivers were equipped with go-pro helmet cameras.
the detailed, second by second footage with commentary and interviews can be found below:

really lucky they all made it out.
As the young lady is jettisoned out into the open sky with the two aircraft spiraling out of control and a swarm of skydivers leaping for safety... it looks like something from a video game.

Pretty remarkable that not only did everyone make it out, but there was only one real injury. Thanks for sharing that, John.

Sometimes Lady Luck really does smile down on you, although in this case I reckon she was beaming like a Cheshire cat! :D

Thanks for sharing. I'd seen some of the footage soon after the incident but having the verbal descriptions adds immeasurably to it.
I'll just add that all their initial comments are true, skydiving is a unique wonderful feeling - check out your local DZ and book yourself in for an AFF course (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerated_freefall) (or a tandem jump if you must but my recommendation would be the course). You'll not regret it, still safer than crossing the roads. :yeah:

It's that static-line stuff I wouldn't like, little room for any error unlike at 12k feet.
I'm all for people doing stuff for charity, but skydiving is so much fun I refuse to sponsor anybody to do it.

I cannot see the video, but if this is that Wisconsin accident.. there's lot's of commentary on forums about none or bad planning, flight, formation flying and/or jumps.
Generally the pilot of a 'meat-bomb' aircraft always wears a chute... now you see why.
But they're lucky... this time.

In case you didn't know...
meat bomb Slang term for skydiver. Often used among pilots, jumpers and others associated in some way with aviation. It has a somewhat morbid connotation to it, hinting that if the parachutist's equipment should fail, or (more common) the parachutist should make a gross mistake, that he will explode upon impact much like a bomb made out of meat.
