ID friendly/enemy ships without flag

Hi!
How can I ID that a ship is friendly or enemy when there is no flag on it?
I use real navigation with no map contact (so I cannot see that it is green or red).

If it has not flag it has no nation (environmental etc - some units in monsoon grouppe were like this)
So do not shoot:D

I am actually in the very first campaign!
I saw passenger ships like this, without flag.

And welcome aboard formally Vattila!:Kaleun_Salute: you seem to have been missed on your first six posts. :salute: Your playing SHV I assume; if by passenger ship you mean Rawalpindi troopships or look alike Patroclus armed merchants, those are not neutral. If they speed up or evade or actually fire as you approach warily, decks awash, for a quick submerge, SINK EM!
