Some Advice/Ideas

I'm about to upgrade my hardrive for one with more capacity. I currently have a Kingston 120gb ssd which is almost filled to capacity. My new one is the Samsung 840 EVO ssd at 500gb. A buddy of mine at work installs and updates the computers. He recently purchased a machine to clone hardrives. My plan is to have my current HD cloned onto the new one. He said it's an easy process, and should be as simple as just hooking up the new HD and business as usual. It sounds pretty straight forward, but I was wondering if any of you guys have any experience doing this. Is it as easy as it sounds? Any tips/suggestions welcome! Thanks:up:

Never done it, but yes, as far as I know it's as simple as that.

Windows prolly needs to install a driver upon loading, but that's about it. :hmmm:

Provided the clone readjusts the partition afterwards, your fine. Otherwise you may end up with 2 partitions - easy enough to fix.

If its been a while - it might be better to just rebuild the machine though.

For what it's worth, I just finished hooking up the new ssd (I know I said after the Holidays, well it is actually after the Holidays:O:). Booted up like a dream. I only needed to extend the volume, since it still showed 120 gigs. Easy enough to do through the Windows Wizard. If anyone is planning on replacing their drive for a larger capacity or faster speed, cloning is the way to go, without a doubt!

Kindly elaborate. This product got many good reviews on speed and dependability, which was a selling point for me.
