View Full Version : Eu a upcoming federation
According to several Danish newspapers and some politicians I follow on Facebook, there are persistent rumors in the EU. These rumors, says that the EU will become a federal State following the elections to the European Parliament in 2014.
From BT (Danish newspaper)
"Rumor has it that a number of EU heads of state and head of government has already agreed that there should be a treaty, if the euro is to survive. Plan is to create a federation of nation states
There have been reports from various quarters in recent years. They assume that if the euro zone back on track, so one needs to make a much more comprehensive treaty in which the entire fiscal policy and tax policy and so on is controlled by the EU. The Commission becomes so the only government "
Have used google translate (to understand the strange words or opinions that I may have missed)
Hope it is only a rumor.
Fond of European cooperation, but are not interested in my country becomes a State in a European federation

We are supposed to be having a referendum to decide if the uk will stay in the EU, this is exactly the sort of thing that will drive the No vote.

Here in Denmark the No-sayers are asking for this. The politicians are saying no to such a demand. Most of the parties in the Danish parliament love EU more or less. DF(Danish public parti and EL(unit list) are love EU less. the rest love EU more.

The original idea of the EU was fine, if they stuck to just that we'd all be doing great. For my current employment the UK would ideally remain in the EU, but if this goes beyond rumour then the impending vote will be a no. If it is just rumour I think it'll be a photo finish.

I "believe" in Karma, the inescapable causal link between cause and effect. People will reap what they allowed to get sown in their name - and what by their passivity they helped to get sown that way. Nature knows no sentimentalities. Reality never is anything different than just itself. Excuses then will not get accepted. Tears over losses will find no compassion. People will pay the price right to the last penny. No consequence will be suspended.
Some say this is merciless. I say it is just. I do not want it any different. Not for myself, not for anyone else. If reasonability gets refused by man, all is lost.

Rumours .. :hmmm: in the EU :hmm2: On Facebook ? :03:
What is true is that the self-determination of the nations had to diminish, would there be a pan-european government at some point.
But in Germany we don't care. We have no constitution being passed by the german people, but only the provisional 'Grundgesetz' from 1948. Thus we are used to being pushed around, and having to deliver all to our western masters errr friends :03:

Jim,
regional independence movements are growing everywhere in Europe. Never before was the EU met with so much disgust and antipathy like today. The Euro is unable to surivive and succeed, it will collapse. The closer the final act of the EU, the more bitter and sharper the conflict between the people will become. We can already see it happening. Those being bailed out the most criticize the loudest. In the end, everybody will only be angrily trying to hide his own lies and failings and weaknesses over which he feels so miserable. It's one of the bad human traits: we accuse others over our own failures. We break a glass in the kitchen - and start a mental argument with somebody in our heads.
Catfish,
the German citizens' understanding of what states are, is unique in Europe, and I would add: uniquely misled. It's a bit more complex than just: the EU grows, so national states must decline.
I think I set it up before somewhere, not sure, but anyway, i do it again. This text, a book excerpt, gives some historic background reflection on Germans' political attitude. I find it extremely hard to overestimate the importance of what it says. It is in GERMAN LANGUAGE.

A highly, highly recommendable book, btw. History in the first half, pure dynamite in the second.

Possibly, but when the EU says that it is an association of sovereign states and has no plans for either a federation or confederation then it can only mean they want a federation and no sovereign states as they must be lying.
