Hiya, all. Sorry to have been gone so long. My main PC had a hardware fault that I didn't discover until some software "oopses" were cleared out, and it's taken til now to get a machine running that will handle SH3 with GWX.

So I ran it for the first time today (GWX), and I'm drawing a blank.

The chorus that's being sung during the opening sequences -- who can identify that for me, please?

I know it's not from the Brahms Deutsche Requiem (besides, that would be pretty gloomy) because I've performed that a handful of times. I thought it might be an excerpt from Götterdämmerung, but I haven't played in an opera pit orchestra for over 30 years. I don't know the German language at all, so I'm unable to translate the lyrics and do an online search.

Götterdämmerung would be eerily appropriate for the all-too-usual fate of U-booters. With my fading memory of Wagner, however, it could as easily be a chorus from Die Walküre that's just not as memorable as their ride's theme.

Sorry to take up valuable bandwidth with a silly question, but I really did try to figure out myself. I usually turn the music all the way down once in the game, but I'm glad I hadn't gotten to the Options page yet -- pretty haunting piece of music, short though it is.

73 & good hunting,

Herr Kaleun Privateer,
Many thanks for the quick (and accurate!) post.

What a monster piece! And it's nice to let the contrabasses (or their equivalent on some keyboardist's left hand) have a few windows where the audience remembers those guys over there on the right are actually making sound.

Bach (I believe) was quoted as saying something to the effect that "....the voice of God is in the bass instruments." In my case, it's more like the voice of the Munchkins, or maybe lesser Trolls, but I still try :)

What a great piece for a community orchestra to pull off, with some extra percussion for the bit from 4:16 to the end. It doesn't seem to need especially virtuosic players.

Thanks again!

GWX 3 did not change the intro.
That's pure SH3 as you can see from the date stamp on the file.
At lest I think that's so.
