View Full Version : JGSME.....What did I do wrong?

So on my conquest to mod my latest Steam version of SH5, I've received help from a few great individuals. My quest was one of 2 things: more torpedoes, and better equipment from the start. My solution: Sort of IX mod (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=3714).

My SH5 is updated as Steam updates automatically, and my version of JGSME is v2.6.0.157

So here are the step by step of what I've done thus far:

-installed JGSME inside c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Silent Hunter 5

-I put a shortcut of JGSME onto the desktop

-When I open the Generic Mod Enabler, it shows my mods to be located at c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Silent Hunter 5\MODS

- I downloaded the Sort of IX mod and it gave me a zip file, which I placed in my MODS folder and (with my windows 7), did "extract here". It placed a folder within MODS called IX BOAT MOD All TYPE 1 STEAM.

- So now I have .....MODS\IX BOAT MOD All TYPE 1 STEAM\data\Submarine. Within the \Submarine folder, it's empty. There are no files within the \Submarine.

- I open the desktop shortcut of Generic Mod Enabler, and under Available Mods it shows the IX BOAT MOD All TYPE 1 STEAM.

- I select it and click enable selected mod

- IX BOAT MOD All TYPE 1 STEAM is now under Activated Mods

With that, I start my SH5 and that I'm already docked at my homebase, I 'Continue Campaign' and nothing is different. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zero. What am I doing wrong????

always unzip files to your desktop or your documents folder

then confirm you file path is correct, mod name folder then data directly inside it, then put it into jsgme.

from your description it sounds like the mod itself is incomplete or has files missing, did you use 7zip to unzip it? using WinRAR or winzip can cause file corruptions when unzipping

Changing some mods, you can not just continue a campaign. You have to start a New campaign.

I did start a new campaign, and still no more torps than what I already have. In fact, I lost the amount of torps because it's the entry model.

I haven't tried what Webster said. I'll give it a shot. But, if it all does work, what do I do? Go to the guy that sells the torps/upgrades and buy what I want off of him?

As Webster pointed out, the game cannot work with a zipped file. You need to extract the file from the zipped folder first. The best tool for this is 7-Zip (http://www.7-zip.org/download.html).

Once all that is fixed, then, how what do I do in game? Go to the guy with the upgrades/torps and order all the new equipment?

Yes, click on the guy with upgrades/torps. Pick and choice what you want. Hit the "X" in upper right of window to exit.

S- is backwards, D - right, A - left, W - forward if your keys are same as mine, depending on what user interface is being used (changes in commands.cfg).

Backup and you will see the guy with the hat. Click on this guy with the hat. Option 1 - pick mission, click on missions on left top side (map will navigate to that point,) or find iron crosses on map, click on request mission. Hit the "X" in upper right of window. (Hope I got this memorized right.)
option 2 - start game with mission.

Update after all that writing:haha: and missed before, found the picture thread.

Well, it's all working. I didn't change anything that was posted before. It just decided to start working. Thank you all for all the assistance!

A mystic :subsim: experience we don't really like to discuss! Sometime just glaring at the machine works wonders; never bash or jostle the machine though or it won't dream?! :nope:
